El Centro Cultural Reina Sofía es el antiguo Gobierno Militar. Acoge el Museo Vasallo, la Real Academia Hispanoamericana, el Ateneo Gaditano, la Biblioteca Militar, la Fundación Federico Joly, el Taller de Estampación Galván, la Fundación Municipal de Cultura y la exposición-legado de la familia Aramburu. El edificio fue construido entre 1758 y 1759 y es una verdadera joya de su época.

El Centro Cultural Reina Sofía fue inaugurado en octubre de 2006 por S.M. la Reina Doña Sofía y tiene como principal reclamo las obras de Juan Luis Vasallo, uno de los mejores escultores españoles...

Actualmente el edificio de calle ancha, 16, se ha cedido su uso al Ayuntamiento de Cádiz, por un convenio con la Universidad por 50 años., y el Rectorado de la UCA está ocupando el antiguo Centro cultural Reina Sofia del Ayuntamiento de Cádiz, siendo este la sede actualmente del Rectorado de la Universidad., aunque ahora...
