Палац був побудований в 1640 Фредріком Стенбоком. Спочатку будівництво велося в стилі ренесанс, але пізніше 1670 палац був перебудований Юханом Габріелем Стенбоком (сином Фредріка Стенбока) і тепер палац витриманий в стилі римського бароко (архітектор Нікодемус Тессін). З 1773 палац був викуплений державою і використовувався для офісів Національного Архіву, а в 1865 будинок був пов'язаний з будівлею Національного архіву переходом.
