Adagio Hostel, Taichung — Hotel in Taichung

Firstly hostel is a bad name because this thankfully is NOT a hostel, but a hotel. Service is excellent. Friendly and professional. Location is incredibly clean .

The only reason this isn't a five star value hotel because all night neither me or my wife couldn't sleep due to the down pillow and down comforter.

Neither of us are people with even seasonal allergies, but good Lord that was one of the most uncomfortable nights I've ever had in my life. I sneezed maybe 50 times throughout the night.

It finally stopped when we used our jackets as a blanket and slept in our clothes and we passed out.

Soundproofing isn't the best as I could hear some people talking but it was faint until the morning garbage truck came that was loud but I was up by then. If you're sensitive it might bother you

The bed itself was incredibly comfortable. The desk was solid and practically livable. That's what makes this so strange

I do not know if the reason is because it's low quality down material or if it's the cleaning solutions they used to wash the bedding, but whatever it is, it was not good

However, I still MUST give this place credit where credit is due. If those items weren't there, this will be a 4-5 out of five value hotel (depending on how sensitive of a sleeper you are) when they switch the bedding.

Hotel lobby is so clean and smelling pleasant when we arrived. There was only 1 elevator but the access through the stairs was easier so it is just fine. The room we had has washing machine and dryer and they give out free wm pods which made it super easy for us to clean our clothes while we stayed there. The only issue we had was that we can hear the noise from hallway which made us think that the noise inside the room may possibly be heard from outside as well. Although its not much of a problem since we were able to rest very well during the nights of our stay. The bed is comfy, tv had netflix and toilet has toiletries provided. The hotel itself is very clean, comfortable and the condition of the room is very good and new. I didn’t have any issues with mosquitoes that every one is telling here. I was on the 7th floor. Location is also good, 15 min walking from the main station and few major night markets just nearby.

The only problem I faced is availability of the staff and finding the hostel door as it does not have any signs that this is a hotel and located in a residential building. I’ve seen other travelers also struggling with that. I came at 14:00 and no one was opening the door. When I was back the same happened I had to ring and wait. Very uncomfortable situation.
