Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Taipei Xinyi Place A8 — Attraction in Taipei

All I can say is A8 has a B2 full of food surprises. Our favorite place is at the B2 Bagel Shop, best assortment of bagels on Taiwan. There is a Hagen Daz to get your fix of the premier ice cream available one step away and a wonderful tasting Tempura House with some deliciously.prepared seafood and veggie Tempura in the next spot. The food business always booms on Taiwan featuring Korean, Japanese, Cantonese, American deserts, pies and pizzas, and Taiwan's assortment of noodles rice plates fried and braised foods.. you can absolutely go crazy and the Food Court in A8 is an exemplary example of why.

Upstairs there are electronic life style retailers like Sony Audio and Cameras, Nikon, and lots of clothes such as name brand selections from Jeansmith, Armani and LV, and many other top end shops.

A beautiful department store with perfect parking, even when there is no more parking on the weekends at other stores in the area A8 is just enough off to the side so as to have a few digital license plate reader parking spots when you need...

Shin Kong Mitsukoshi – From "Just a Mall" to "Can We Stay 3 Days?"

At first, I walked into Shin Kong Mitsukoshi thinking, “Alright, just another department store. Been here, done that. Feels like the kind of mall I walk through every day back in Bangkok.”

But plot twist.

Turns out, this place has a secret weapon—a massive outdoor playground on the rooftop. And I’m talking clean, safe, good weather, beautiful views, and enough toys to keep my toddler living his best life. There’s even a little train ride up there. My kid was so hyped he literally asked, “Can we stay here for three days?” I mean… I get it.

And just when we thought we’d maxed out on fun, boom—we discovered a Ghibli gift shop inside. Totoro heaven. Cute stuff everywhere. So yeah, we ended up loving this mall a little more than we expected.

Bonus points: It’s right next to Taipei 101, so the location’s super convenient too.

So what started off as “eh, just another mall” became a full-on highlight of our trip. Definitely worth a stop—especially if you're...
