We wanted to hang out at a coffee shop with a great view and great coffee. MKC Taipei really checked those boxes when I searched on google.
In reality, I have mixed feelings. There was only one person working the counter and serving drinks. It is a two story shop with indoor seating on both levels and limited outdoor seating. She was running drinks up and down. It is pretty small too. We got lucky and scored seats by the window on the top level. I waited in line for about 15 minutes, since the shop is so small and the register is right by the door. I stood to the side to wait my turn. She knew I was waiting and kept taking orders from other people first. I finally got my order in and went upstairs to meet my husband.
We sat at the window, and the view was pretty great. Bar stools were so uncomfortable it was not the best place to sit for a long time. The barista brought up our drinks, I had a chai latte and husband got a matcha latte both with oat milk. We split a cinnamon bun. Both were good, I preferred the matcha latte better. Cinnabun was delicious. Then the waitress came back and said we needed to pay extra since we were dine in. But I told her at the counter we were dine in. Needless to say there is an extra dine in fee.
Overall, it was a good experience. Not sure if it was worth...

Mountain Kids Coffee Roasters (MKCR) is located right next to the North Gate (Beimen). They specialize in coffee while also carrying desserts and craft beer.
It’s hard to find a place in Taipei with a view as good as this, so grab a window seat and watch the world pass by.
I’ve tried the brown sugar latte and the Osmanthus latte at Mountain Kids Coffee Roasters (MKCR). Both were good in their own way, but the brown sugar latte way was better.
The seating area is on the 2nd floor of the cafe while the 1st floor has all the coffee equipment. They filled my latte to the very top and were able to walk it to the 2nd floor without spilling a drop. Very impressive.
The food and dessert change daily. I tried the “Baked Tea” donut and it was as good as I thought it was going to be…and that’s not a positive comment. Come for the drinks, stay for the view.

Read moreVisited this cafe after finding it online, and the experience exceeded my expectations. The staff at the counter was friendly and proactive, offering helpful suggestions for both cake and coffee. The convenience of card payment inside the store was a plus. I tried a cake and a hot coffee recommended by the server, and I must say the cake was exceptionally delicious, and the coffee was delightful. Enjoying the treats with a view of the historical landmarks outside through the window added to the overall experience. The restroom is located on the first floor, and there are seating options on the second floor and outdoors. I highly recommend this cafe to friends and family and look forward to trying other desserts on...
