We stopped at 3 locations while in our trip ending here in Phuket. The rooms were ok nothing fancy but did the job. The location was great very close to everything and convenient. Now the service was not that great. After coming from Bangkok and Chaing Mai where they were exceptionally great I expected the same. The front desk staff was not that service oriented with the exception of a few of the people. You felt like you were bothering them anytime you asked a question and they were very short with responses. We asked for water a few times and got responses of bother as if going behind them and grabbing the bottles was a hard task. When we arrived we stated we would need a late checkout and we understood there is a fee for that and had no problem as we had a late flight. They stated no problem. However the morning of our checkout the lady at the front desk when I mentioned we were leaving today in passing I stated again we need to leave at 4pm and she stated we couldn’t. I explained to her that we were given the ok when we checked in. She proceeded to tell me no and when I asked to speak to the manager she said they would be in at 8am. I came back at 8 and asked to speak to the manager and she advised she is not there yet. I decided to wait there and then all of a sudden she said she could do a late check out for us. This was not necessary to begin with and then out of the blue you now can let us check out. Is it because I was going to complain to the manager or what. Left a bad taste in my mouth as I feel she was lying to begin with. The cleaning staff was nice and did a great job. Another thing is the noise coming from the outside of our windows is very loud and you hear it all the time. If I returned here again which is our plan in the future as Phuket is amazing I do not believe I would stay here and really look at a place that provided better...
Read moreI don't understand some of the negative reviews people have left this hotel. We had a lovely stay at The Bloc Hotel. The front desk staff were very friendly as well as the security guards. The rooms were extremely clean as well as the bathroom. The roof top bar has a great view of Phuket and Patong Beach. I highly recommend sipping on a cocktail as you watch the sunset up there. The pool was clean as well. The location of the hotel is the icing on top. It was steps away from the beach and plenty of restaurants and bars. Laundry service everywhere and very cheap and reliable. Bangal street is just 5 mins down the street as well but the area where the hotel is does not feel like it's party central. It's still a great hotel for families and/or couples who are looking for a relaxing stay at Patong Beach. There's a bigger grocery shop near by with more options than 7/11. Loads of street vendors at night. I recommen eating at the Sabai Beach Restaurant if you're looking for affordable seafood and local dishes at a decent price. Only negative comment about the hotel are the paper thin walls. That's the only reason why I gave this place a 4 star our of 5. There was a horrible couple next door to us fighting all night until the next day afternoon! The man was screaming as if something bad had happened around 4 am. It made us scared and anxious. The hotel staff were great to send up security and check on the couple but there wasn't much they can do about them being loud. This wasn't the hotel or staff's fault. It's just unfortunate that's how the building was built...with paper thin walls so that you can...
Read morePros- The guest services at this hotel were wonderful. I arrived amidst the NYE chaos, and was welcomed with a cool, jasmine scented towel and crisp, cold water, which I definitely appreciated. Everyone was kind and helpful, the rooms are cleaned super efficiently and thoroughly, and the hall floors were so sparkling clean I swear I could use them as a mirror to reapply my lipstick. The bed was large and comfortable, and the shower had great water pressure. The rooftop pool was a sweet oasis with a gorgeous view of the beach with a bar for all of your beverage needs. Cons- the location is extremely loud, directly in the middle of the party. If you’re under 30, or if you don’t have any trouble falling asleep behind the DJ booth at a rave, you’ll be right at home. The beach club next door starts bumping at 2pm and doesn’t stop until around 3-4 am. No kidding. Not to mention the street noise from the street- tuk-tuks with a full-on club in the back, honking, yelling and loud drunken conversations. It’s all very jovial, but extremely noisy. I wore noise cancellation headphones every night. But it’s right across the street from the beach, near several night markets, and you are only a whisper away from every kind of transit you could possibly need. Overall, this place is well worth the money if you’re looking for a clean, central location as a jumping off point for your adventures, and don’t mind a little chaos or sleeping...
