This was definitely the highlight of our time in Bangkok! We started the morning meeting our guides for the day, Cookie and Anna, and setting up the bikes before heading off. Bikes were in great condition and comfortable to ride for a few hours. The first thing we did was cycle and walk through the back streets and morning market of China Town which was just so cool. You really get to see the local people's lives and they greet you with a smile every time. The market was hectic but amazing to walk through, all the smells and colours really remind you you're in South East Asia. We then continued along the river to Wat Kalayanamit Woramahawihan before hopping on a longtail boat with our bikes for a nice and relaxing ride to the outskirts of the city. This was so peaceful and relaxing, really adds to the amazing experience of the tour. We docked the boat at another temple and unloaded the bikes and started making our way through the village and it's rice fields, coconut plantations and other fruit plantation. Really cool experience. After this we hopped on the boat again to go to our lunch spot on the water. Lunch was various delicious home cooked meals we all shared, with vegetarian options available on request. Once we finished lunch we hopped back on the boat again to ride back to the office and finish the tour. We can't recommend this tour highly enough, it was absolutely great. Definitely try and book the early morning one as the temperature is still nice and streets and market on not too busy yet. Thanks for the great experience Co van Kessel and Cookie and Anna...
Read moreAfter we did the Co Original 3-hour bicycle tour, that we liked very much, we decided to also book the Co Rocket boating 5-hour multi boat tour. Although we didn't know what to expect (apart from the description on the website), since there are hardly any extensive reviews about this tour, we were not disappointed. In fact, this tour became our new favorite!
Today, our family of 4 were the only one for this tour, meaning we had Pam as our private tourguide. Pam was really great! She gave us lots of information about the sights seeing from the water. She was also very helpful getting in and out of the boats and overall took really good care of us during the tour.
We started the tour in a longtail boat. After a while, there were two Rocket boats waiting for us to take us further. This part of the tour is what it is about. We were really impressed by the speed of these boats! And how close you are to the water sitting in these boats!
During this part of the tour we had 2 stops: one to have a tasty lunch at a market where we were the only tourists. The second one is at a temple with a huge reclining Buddha. Both were pleasant breaks with Pam informing us about both places.
The last part is getting back to the location by Chao Praya river express boat. Our boys were a bit tired from the excitement on the Rocket boats, so this was a perfect way to get back to the starting point.
Last but not least: a big thank you Pam, for the little surprise at the end of the tour for our birthday boy! It made his birthday a little...
Read moreMy sister and I took the 5-hour combo boat/bike tour of Bangkok and we couldn’t be more pleased. From start to finish, this tour was exceptional! Everything is well-coordinated, the Co Van Kessel staff are friendly and professional, and the routes are interesting and diverse. Our biking portion included a spin through Chinatown, several bustling neighborhoods and school zones, markets that were just opening for the day, two Buddhist temples, and a small jungle that seemed to pop up out of nowhere. The whole experience included two boat rides on colorful longboats, and entering Chao Praya through a series of locks was fascinating and totally unexpected. On the first boat ride, keep an eye out for the big monitor lizards sunning themselves on the banks of the canal! The whole 5-hour Co Van Kessel tour included 2 boat rides and about 9 miles of easy paved bike riding. This was probably my favorite activity on my trip in Thailand and I recommend it 100%! Note that the riding pace of this tour is a happy medium - it isn’t too fast but it isn’t slow either. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend it for little kids or people unaccustomed to maneuvering bicycles. The route is not difficult but you’ll need to navigate some tight corners and a boardwalk-type path...
