Food 1/5 : We ordered iskender kebab, mixed grill plate, 2 buryan(1 bone in 1 boneless), a salad, 2 ayran, 2 coke zero, 2 lentil soup, and 1 cig kofte. The salad was flavorless. We even added extra pomegranate molasses (which doesn't seem to have much flavor here.) The salad is basically chopped tomatoes, cucumbers, chili, and parsley on top. No flavor of olive oil or salt. The cig kofte isn't something I'm used to. I'm used to eating raw kibbe (a lebanese dish) so the flavor isn't what I'm used to, but it was good. The lentil soup tasted good, but it was spicy so beware. The iskender kebab was offputting in looks and flavor. It was basically flat meat sitting on top of bread smothered in tomato sauce (which tasted canned) and a side of yogurt. No spices at all. The mixed grill was probably the most decent out of all the dishes, with the best part being the chicken wings. They tasted like they were cooked on coals or wood fire; very good. The buryan...oh man it was soooooo disappointing. I had extremely high expectations because of all the hype I'd heard about the place. I imagined the meat to be full of fantastic flavors after being cooked underground for so long but unfortunately, although it was tender, it didn't taste like anything but lamb. Absolutely no flavor of salt or any other spice. The bone in portion barely had any meat with the majority of the piece being bone and the boneless portion had so much fat.
Service 1/5: it seems that as a rule, service here is terrible. The waiters hover over you as soon as you're seated until they take your orders and then they disappear until your food is ready. They serve you and again disappear until you flag them down for the check. This place wasn't very different. The waiter literally was on top of our heads while we discussed which dishes to order. Every time we'd mention the name of a dish he'd take it as a que to explain what that dish was...very annoying.
Price: I didn't think it was too pricey. Our bill came out to be 116 TL for everything we ordered which comes...
Read moreWe went to Kadınlar Pazarı with my mother and grandmother just to eat büryan kebab. Unfortunately, the experience was far below our expectations.
When we sat down, we chose the restaurant’s most famous dish, the büryan. Before that, we ordered liver kebab to share as a small starter. I specifically mentioned that we wanted it served first, in a small portion to share. However, our waiter must not have paid any attention, because all the orders arrived at the table at the same time. Having four plates placed in front of us all at once disrupted both the order of the meal and our enjoyment. When I pointed this out, no solution or compensation was offered.
Afterwards, we ordered a small dessert, and they wanted to serve tea with it. But when coffee was requested, no one mentioned that it wasn’t complimentary and would be charged separately. When we got the bill, we saw that an extra 300 TL had been added just for the coffee. This clearly showed how lacking the customer information was.
Overall, the service was inattentive; the waiter silently placed the dishes on the table and left, with no communication or attempt at compensation whatsoever. It felt as though the focus was not on customer satisfaction but rather on quick service and catering to the tourist crowd.
Frankly, the soul of the place seems to be lost. It has turned into a spot geared more towards tourists, with little regard for the customer’s intention or enjoyment. I don’t plan...
