I will never go there again A Beautiful Garden with a Disappointing Experience – Statue of Ottoman Sultan on Horse
The area around the Statue of the Ottoman Sultan on Horse (At Üzerinde Osmanlı Sultanı Heykeli) is actually quite beautiful. It’s a large garden with interesting historical statues and a peaceful atmosphere. Even though the weather was hot, the place felt cool and pleasant to walk around.
However, I have to say that I had one of the worst personal experiences during my stay in Istanbul here. While I was alone in the garden taking a few photos, the security staff stopped me and asked me to hand over my phone. They started checking my photos without explaining much. Eventually, they gave the phone back and said I could continue taking pictures if I wanted, but the whole situation felt uncomfortable and unnecessary.
This incident really changed how I feel about taking photos in public spaces in Istanbul. I didn’t feel like I did anything wrong, but I felt judged and watched.
So while the place itself is visually nice, I would personally not return — and I would advise others to be careful when photographing in public, even in quiet and open...

Read moreThis is a large scale monument dedicated to Sultan Mehmed II otherwise known as Mehmed the Conqueror and commemorates his conquest of Constantinople in 1453. The monument was designed by sculptor Hüseyin Gezer and erected the public park by the same name in 1987.
What you see is a bronze of Sultan Mehmed II seated upon a flying horse elevated high upon the arch portion of the fixed structure. The image symbolising Mehmed's breach of what was considered at the time impenetrable walls of Constantinople. Below are several other bronze figures representing Sultan Mehmed II's entourage.
