I’m not someone who writes negative reviews, but I feel that others should be aware that this happened.
My husband and I rented a car from Scooter Bob’s. Yesterday, we were driving home from the beach, and when we went to enter our gated condominium complex, we noticed that another car entered behind us, that was not authorized to do so (they didn’t enter a code, and were riding our bumper, so they made it through the gate). When we parked our car in the parking lot, the car pulled up beside us, and the driver said, “Do you know who I am?” My husband stated he did know the driver, as it was the owner of Scooter Bob’s. Immediately, Scooter Bob said, “give me the keys to my car.” My husband and I were baffled, as he then said aggressively, “YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID. YOU’RE RECKLESS, AND THIS IS MY LIVELIHOOD.”
The truth is, my husband is one of the safest drivers I know, and we were given no explanation for what he saw as “reckless.” Perhaps he doesn’t need to give an explanation, but his approach was nothing short of unprofessional. We gave the keys to his assistant, who was very kind. We were truly baffled by this interaction. We have no idea how long he was following us, or what prompted his aggressive demeanor. No explanation. This left us stranded at our resort, and now he is demanding payment from us, when the hold on our credit card covers the cost of the rental. We are fully aware that this is his car, and he can demand it back at any time. But know that if he sees you while you’re out driving (his cars all have names on the hood, so they’re easy to spot) he could do...
Read moreWe picked Scooter Bob’s based on location and also convenience. Booking the car was super easy online and picking the car up at the airport was even easier. Scooter Bob’s let us know exactly where the car was in the upper lot number two at the airport waiting for us to go. We arrived later in the afternoon and were offered the chance to come into the shop the following day to complete our paperwork after our Scuba diving.
Our car named “Billy” was a true character with some Island patina to him but a champ who got us where we wanted to go without failure.
Amos from Scooter Bob’s is a second generation islander from Canada and made our experience with renting a car and some local spots to visit awesome.
The fleet at Scooter Bob’s include newer models too we were happy with “Billy” and his Island patina adding to the entire vibe. Beyond Rav 4’s appearance we were first time right hand drive left side of the road American drivers, so it made us laugh that they might possibly give the cars to replace next to newbie left side of the road drivers.
A rental car when visiting Provo, and staying away from Grace Beach is absolutely essential. You’ll be able to see parts of the island and different reefs to visit as well as getting to the grocery store on the Leeward Highway. We used our rental car several times a day traveling to our diving boat with Aqua TCI, Smith’s Reef, to dinner locations, and the resort area surrounding Grace Bay with shopping and...
Read moreGreat people. We were complicated for them because we rented a scooter in 2 blocks of 2 days (4 days total). 1 scooter, me and my girlfriend. They coordinated to:
1.) Leave us a small car at the airport because they thought we may like some space for luggage (without even meeting me, very trusting). Turned out to be a very smart idea and it was nice to just get off the plane and split.
2.) Yan gave us a ride from their shop to the ferry (so we could go to north and middle caicos). Very friendly and had plenty of island things to talk about.
3.) Yan also picked us up from the ferry on the way back. Very prompt and responsive to emails to settle on a specific pickup time. Took us back to the shop and gave us the scooter back.
4.) Scooter Bob himself (hadn't met him until this point) drove us to the airport on the way out. Very cool guy with interesting stories and good conversation. Didn't even charge me for the ride.
The scooter itself was in great shape. Newer model. Was able to haul around the two of us (we weigh maybe 250 pounds together) with...
