I visited Al Seef by Dubai Retail on 21st December 2024 with my wife around 8:30 PM, excited to enjoy its picturesque ambiance. As someone who has visited Dubai before and is even considering investing here, my experience was completely tarnished by the behavior of an incredibly rude security person.

We were simply taking photos near an unopened shop, appreciating the beautiful setting. We weren’t blocking anyone, creating a disturbance, or doing anything unsafe. Despite this, the security personnel approached us in an unprofessional and disrespectful manner, instructing us to “take the photo and leave” as if we were committing a crime. The tone and demeanor were appalling—no courtesy, no politeness, just outright hostility.

What makes this worse is that others in the area were sitting and lingering without any issues, yet we were singled out. The incident felt targeted and even racially motivated, which left a bitter taste. As a tourist who values Dubai’s global reputation for hospitality and inclusivity, this was deeply disheartening.

To make matters worse, I noticed several other complaints about the behavior of security personnel here. This isn’t an isolated incident but a pattern that reflects poorly on the management.

While Al Seef boasts a beautiful ambiance with its traditional-meets-modern vibe, the shops are largely repetitive, offering the same items, and the charm is overshadowed by such unpleasant encounters.

Dubai aspires to be the world’s top tourist destination, but experiences like this detract from its reputation. Every interaction matters, especially with tourists who come here with excitement and admiration. A rude security guard can undo years of goodwill.

To the authorities and management at Al Seef: please address this recurring issue. Train your security staff to treat tourists with respect and professionalism. This isn’t just about one rude individual but a larger issue of oversight and accountability.

As someone who was evaluating Dubai for future investments, this experience has made me reconsider. A single incident of disrespect is enough to undermine the trust and appeal of a place.
