I will be honest, reading the reviews made me hesitant with trying this place but, I was not disappointed.
First, the customer service was superb in my opinion. The lady at the front desk took her time to explain all my options for rental and helped me convert the prices to the current exchange rate (but everything is actually paid in United Arab Emirates Dirham/ AED). Additionally, she explains the paperwork you sign before renting any equipment. Also, I read in one comment about the people holding onto the passport which did not happen to me. Instead the desk just took down my passport information, they did not hold any possession of me or else I would have not rented from them. The lady at the desk was really kind and talkative as well, it helped break the ice. I did not wait long for my ski, they gave me an estimate time of wait and told me to return in 10-15 minutes or they would call me if ready. I came in the busy weekend of New Years, there was a lot of people renting stuff from this place so, I understood the wait.
I rented a Jet Ski, I am very familiar with the machine as I hail from the beaches of Florida and surfed in Hawaii in my travels. The personnel gave me a run down of all the safety features of the jet ski and a safety brief (like what to do if the ski capsize). They were knowledgeable about their equipment and safety procedures. They did a preliminary check on the jet ski before I got on, then gave me a lesson on how to operate the machine (although I already knew).
I saw some comments on capsizing on a seadoo jetski. I actually rode on one, although I am not sure what the model of it is (I think it might have been a Spark Trixx ?). I did not capsize or flip at any point in time, although I did go in a moderate speed and managed cutting the waves well when turning.
As a precaution for anyone driving a jet ski:
If you are holding a passenger, it is likely to capsize since there is more weight and the center of gravity does not shift the same as a single driver. Additionally, the passenger should not hold too tight since it will make it difficult for the driver to drive the ski.
Listen to the personnel when giving the safety brief (a lot of people don’t usually). Whenever you do fall off the ski, you can always board it from the stern (back). Use the handle on or behind the seat to pull yourself out of the water. Additionally, there is a bar on the bottom of the ski which you can pull down to get a footing. Do not get agitated while trying to climb, relax and take it slow.
Always wear a safety/ floatation/live vest. Don’t be macho or whatever and not wear one.
learn how to drive the ski at low throttle, don’t go fast even if you are a pro. It takes time to get used to the sensation. Also, if you want to stand up on the ski, just know that it will be more difficult to manage it and increase the chances that you will fall.
important: You are more likely to capsize the ski whenever you are riding with a passenger or driving aggressively. I drove fast but not aggressive, so my ski did not flip over.
if you do flip swim to the back side of the ski and look at the instruction on how to flip it over. However, if you are unsure how to flip the ski over do not attempt to try it (especially if it’s a rental). Flipping the ski over the wrong way can get water into the engine (thus you probably paying for damages). The personnel of Water Adventure routinely patrol the area where I was driving to make sure I was safe or help if I flip the ski.
The price of rental is decent. It is somewhat the same price as back in the states. I love the experience overall. If I come back to Dubai and JBR beach I will definitely come here again and try out the other stuff they have, especially...
Read moreStay away from this place (I am talking about the one on Jumeirah beach, they may have others) Never, in 30+ years of paying for such activities around the world have I been treated this way. Paid for the flying fish activity, tought I would need to wait 30 mins. Fine, no problem. Sat litterally at the heart of the action (where people embark/disembark) After 45 mins, and realizing that people who had arrived after me were being invited to start theirs, I mentioned to a guy there. He said “ok, next”. The lady at the reception acknowledged. More than once. After 80 mins I stated to loose patience only for the so-called manager to tell me they had been looking for us, that we were not “here”. Never ever have I been lied to my face so openly. Even when other guests jumped into the conversation to confirm they saw me there, all the time!! I asked for a refund, obviously, because the service I paid for had not been given and… guess what… I was told by the other “manager” that they could not. That it was my fault, they had been looking for me. Biggest lie ever, why would I go anywhere else when I came over specifically?!!! No accountability whatsoever. And… no refund. I get it that a business does not care about their clients when located in hot spot with money pouring in whatever the service provided, because it’s high season. But I will never accept to be lied to my face like this. I will be happy to spend the 3k usd earmarked for these activities somewhere else, there are quite a few options there, and none will be as bad, it’s just impossible. Dubai does not need...
Read moreThe people here are very informative about their products. My group of friends decided to rent a few items here. The yacht is really nice!! The boat captain is really knowledgeable about Dubai's history, custom and the area. They are upfront about safety and patrol the area while we used the jet ski. They made food for us on the yacht which was really nice and it was delicious.
Just one recommendation: for people using the jetski, don't get cocky with the machine. Our friend thought it was cool to drive aggressively and got flipped over. He got hurt. Please be careful when operating the jet ski. The water adventure people did inform us about safety and the cost of it, listen to them lol. They were super nice and caring about the incident, it could have gone badly if they wanted to charge...
