Autumn in Bath – “Even Paris can wait”

Built between 1861 and 63 by Charles Hansom who's brother Joseph built Arundel Cathedral and the pair of them built Plymouth Cathedral together is another example of Victorian genius . Outside it is lovely and just gets better once you enter , although I believe that Pevsner bloke disagrees with me . Take his advice and miss a treat in my opinion .there are two fantastic rose windows and a Pieta statue .there are relics here of Saint Justina of Padua and I loved the stations of the cross but I guess I am easily pleased .

I’m been lucky enough to make St John’s my parish church since moving to Bath and it’s a truly blessed church. Stunning inside and out and the 18:30 evening mass is increasingly well-attended with 250-300 people and approximately half from the local universities. Would recommend to all.

St John The Evangelist Church stands proudly on the banks of the River Avon in Bath. The church was designed and built between 1861-1863 by Charles Francis Hansom. The walls are of Bath stone. The church's 222-foot (68 m) spire that dominates the city's skyline was added by Hansom in 1867. The building was bombed in 1942: four people died and the south aisle was destroyed, but subsequently rebuilt in a similar Gothic style. I definitely recommend visiting it because of its amazing atmosphere and beautiful...

A beautiful church, beautifully maintained and isn't it wonderful when this church allows its doors to be open for people either to survey the church, light a candle or say a prayer? So many churches close their doors or operate stringent opening hours. Apart from advertised services and masses clearly shown outside the church this Church welcomes you to go in. Have a look because it is immaculate inside. Credit to the church staff...
