It was a pretty good place to stay, definitely the cheapest in the city centre. Staff were nice, the location is pretty ideal for central Birmingham. 5-10 minute walk to New St Bullring Station, lots of restaurants and coffee shops down the road. We had breakfast in the morning, and the coffee machine was broken so they brought out a tiny kettle from one of the rooms to try and cover 30 people who wanted coffee. We gave up waiting for the kettle and went to Greggs for coffee instead. We stayed one night and we were woken up at 4:38am by a deafening noise of a giant bin of glass bottles being tipped over, it was the guys outside emptying the bins. The racket kept going until 7am at which point the light kept us awake. Even with the window closed, it was absolutely deafening! And we were 4 floors up too. Not the fault of the Travelodge itself, however it is to do with the location. Having only 4 hours sleep because of the noise outside made it a very long day. The room was also empty of any hand soap in the pump on the wall, we had to use shower gel to wash our hands. We had a view over what looked like a complete wasteland, which we found out later was called the "beach" (it's not a beach). Other than that, the room had everything you need. Clean, tidy, simple, secure. Would recommend if you're an extremely heavy sleeper.

My daughter stayed here for a short visit. She received a warm welcome from reception. She was even asked what floor level she would prefer to be located on high or low. Pros - clean room, nice aroma smell. Plenty of clothes hangers provided. Trash bin and recycling bin under desk table for rubbish. Two chairs. The shower knob is so easy to use. Warm, hot water. Hand rail to help you get in and out. Thick shower curtain to keep in the water from splashing on floor. Breakfast consisted of hot cooked items. Bread, cereal and condiments. Juice and coffee machines were well labelled. Remote control for tv was modern (travel lodge branded) and clean although tv was small. Cons - on arrival the bathroom had half a toilet roll on holder with no extra rolls provided. The maids should have topped up with another 2 spare. Had to ask a cleaner in the corridor for an extra roll. Bed headboard is not very comfortable as it is conjoined with a back bed light. Soap dispenser was empty. Used my own instead. Only USB plugs by the bed. No 3 point socket. Used the plug on the wall by the desk. Not ideal if you want to charge your phone at night in bed. Fix the above and this review would be 5 stars across the board.

Premium room?! If you do it for the "quieter", don't bother!! The rooms are facing a courtyard, a student halls of residence, some market and a Funfair!! I kid you not, it couldn't be more wrong if they tried!! Try your luck with the basic one. It is summer and there is no Aircon, so I had to sleep with windows open and I might have packed 4 hours sleep at most. Room overall, first impression is good, although they seriously need to change whatever method they use to wash their linen... Still good value at around ÂŁ50 including breakfast (Aug 2024). For your coffee machine, just notice that you need to tap the coffee machine, the second time to stop pouring water ...or it will NEVER STOP (my espresso is now americano)! :( Wifi is only free for 30 minutes. Then you pay ÂŁ3 for 24 hours. Might be better in winter, although the electric heater in the room is screaming fire hazard. Breakfast was good, the lady was so nice and cheerful, really improved the atmosphere and frankly, my day! :) there is no option to get a decaf latte, only decaf is instant. Alpro yogurt and veggie sausages were available.

When I got to hotel room there were stains all over the floor and all over the chair in the corner, felt like i couldnt even put my stuff anywhere or walk around without shoes on as every surface seemed dirty in some way whether that be hairs, stains and sticky areas. The pillow case had what looked like smalls specks of blood. The whole place just felt like a massive biohazard. Shower had no hot water for my entire stay and was given only half a toilet roll. Heating barely worked, seemed to pump out air to the small area around the heater but not much else. My card didnt work on any of the 4 nights that I stayed here, so i had to go down and ask for it to be sorted every single day. My lock DID NOT work at all so someone could get in with just a card. For the price i felt like none of this was really acceptable. My main issue though was the "security guy". I had a friend who was staying in the same hotel and we went to an event during the day so we would come back together and go to the lifts and then go our separate ways, on the first night they came down with me to sort my card but the other days I went alone. The security guy stopped me as I was looking at the vending machine on my second night and recommended i go to the spar around the corner which i felt was helpful so me and my friend went, came back and again went our separate ways. My card didnt work when i went back to my room though so i went back down alone, the security guy asked me about my room and I told him my card didn't work and he asked my room number, I felt a bit strange about this but i told him then went on my way. The next night same thing, card doesn't work so I go downstairs to get it fixed, on my way to the door the security guy shouts for me on my way up and asks me about my room again, I tell him its fixed and he asks where my "partner" is, I ask him what he means and he assumed the friend I was with was my boyfriend and we were both in college together (16 to 18). I tell him we are friends and staying in different rooms which i immediately regret. He asks to take me back to my room to check my card works, I say Its sorted but he insists, I feel VERY uncomfortable at this point as this guy is pushing it but I let him take me. I get to my door and use the card and it works so I tell him thanks it works, he says "I would like to see you more" I ask what he means "I want to see MORE OF YOU" I know exactly what he means now and feel unsafe and sick, he then says "meet me at the bar later" I say NO and he asks again, I say no again and quickly go into my room and close the door. I am now VERY upset and worried, I did not give this guy any hints in the 5 mins he's spoken to me I would be interested in that, its incredibly unprofessional and disgusting. My lock DOESNT WORK so I am completely terrified that this man is going to try to get into my room at night, I blocked the door with both chairs and told multiple friends staying in the area and stayed up for hours anxious. I luckily did not come across him again but when I checked out I told the lady at the desk about it, she was lovely and understanding and assured me that this wasn't normal behaviour at all and for this I was offered. . .tokens for next time I stay (within the next six months), honestly laughable to think I would ever stay at a travelodge again after this disgusting experience. I now worry about any women who enters that hotel in a vulnerable state of any kind. I was lucky that he didn't push further but the way he acted made me feel hes done this before and would happily do it again to any young women who enters the hotel...

We where there for 3 nights over all it was OK the staff were super friendly and went the extra mile and went out the way to help you we also got given a bigger room then expected and was really greatful for this, honestly.

The cleanliness let this hotel down it was disgusting the stains all over the carpets meaning we had to where our shoes while in the room, the bathroom had other people's personal hairs on floor and dust on the sealant, also toilet door was filthy and needed cleaning with disinfectant and a cloth. I think the rooms need a deep clean each time a person leaves the room and cleaning staff training in how to do a deep clean also some kind of system that the bedroom carpets are shampooed every month which is doable. I required a fan to assist me of a night time but the fan was so dusty it was blowing hot air, so I had to clean it with my personal baby wiped and then the fan worked perfect. It seem petty but it's the little details that are important to customers. We are basing it on our room it was great the size just cleaning and cleanliness let it down for us.

Also there was makeup stains on bedding when we stripped the bedding upon leaving and we are both males so not from us. So possibly cross contamination especially with having a disabled husband and with me being his main carer we really try not to get ill as can end up with hospitalisation for my husband or getting cares to come look after him while I'm ill. Which I have become ill on the last night and while traveling home I was sick.

Think the size of the room the TV need looking at esp in large rooms as it was way to small even if it's just a standard room they need bigger TV's in the rooms

also we noticed cracks in the main walls arround the outside of the bathroom if u lent on the wall while trying to get into bed the wall would move

Possibilitie of applying privacy screen on windows are needed from the courtyard at the back as the student accommodation, as the students don't realy care, as they was walking around there rooms in the nude (female) witch we didn't need to see from our window.

but all I say is the staff need to find propper professional cleaners who actuly clean the rooms and not reuse the same bedding for the next customer, we would have to deeply think about staying here again, but it's so close to city center for me and my disabled husband but the level of cleanliness let's it...

Have stayed here multiple times and usually I can’t grumble it’s a decent sleep with friendly staff, is a bit loud but it’s tolerable. however I checked on the 19th September but as I arrived too early I asked to store my suitcase in the luggage store. I’m 90% sure I put my iPhone in my suitcase which I left in their luggage store, if I didn’t put it there then the phone might of fallen out as I sorted out my luggage to be stored in the reception. I asked reception that night if a phone had been handed in which it hadn’t, I have emailed travel lodge and kindly asked them to look at the cctv. ( I know the cctv can’t be shown but It would help me and the police to confirm if my phone was in fact put in my suitcase) I have had no reason from travel lodge, been totally ignored and checking my phone on find my iPhone it’s not too far away from the hotel so it’s a bit odd. Very disappointed in travel lodge this time as my stays there have been decent and the staff are friendly but I’ve been totally ignored and let down. Just wanted a simple email back. There have been several mistakes when I stayed here but I’ll be honest I overlooked them, my first stay here I paid for late checkout, cleaners woke me up dead on 12, I told them I had late checkout out, they then come back 30 minutes later walked in and woke me up, I still had like a hour to two hour left of late checkout out. Another time I stayed, I had checked in was in my room and another lady entered, they had given her my room key? We was both shocked, the staff apologised and did give me a free complimentary breakfast. However I think 3 bad experiences is enough now 😭 I just want to know what happened...
