To begin with, good thing about the place is a decent decor, and adequate range of dishes (including vegetarian options & chicken options)in the spread.. the dessert spread was nice as well.. taste was good.. coming to the not so good part- so the main entrance involves climbing a flight of stairs.. & although there was a sign saying - wheelchair entrance at the rear, we got told at the reception that it is only for wheelchairs & not pushchairs :( .. so we had to literally lift & carry our baby on the pushchair all the way up the stairs...not nice isnt it....& we weren't the only ones who had to do this.. this place seemed pretty popular with families & there were loads of other guests with kids of all ages.. we saw many others having to lift up their baby's pushchairs all the way through the stairs..... management should do something about this.. secondly, the area around the toilets can be made a bit better.. appears a bit stuffy inside & right outside the toilets.. 3rdly, the 3 star for service as the drinks menu was lifted off from our table by one of the staff members right at the beginning, saying if u need to order drinks, call me.. like c'mmon..u can certainly have one drinks menu to spare for each table can't u.. & talking about calling her, the same staff member literally just walked away while my partner was trying to request her for a pen!.. u do need some training in hospitality guys.... incidentally it was mother's day on the day we visited ( although we were celebrating my partner's bday) ..but I was personally surprised to find that instead of doing discount/ free entry for mums etc (like lot of other businesses celebrating mother's day) this place actually had a higher per person price for this day! Didn't get the logic .... one last thing- the maximum seating time here is 2 hours..although we found it adequate, but that just means that u can't have a relaxed dining experience here if you are someone who likes that.....overall, if you are a foodie, its good value for money but be prepared for the other not so good stuff as...
Read moreVisited today and I was totally flabbergasted. My last visit previously was two and a half years ago and the difference is literally night and day. The food was totally tasteless and overcooked.
In my experience whenever you visit a Chinese restaurant which is very near China Town and do not see a single Chinese person walk in or seated, that is a warning signal. That was my first observation. In two hours not one person who appeared to be of a Far Eastern origin or culture walked in.
The starters was a disaster! I have been visiting Chinese restaurants for over fifty years as its one of my favorite foods and I have never eaten such bland over-cooked food. At one point I went up to a person who was identified as a Manager and politely told him that the food was terrible to which he responded 'When last were you here?' While that seemed to be irrelevant I politely informed him the date of my last visit.
The worst thing presented was labelled corn soup (which I normally love to eat) but in all politeness it was disgusting and I would not feed my dog with that mess.
The dessert was no better with one exception. The soft ice cream was similar to a cheap branded ice cream which at least had some resemblance to ice cream. Everything else was literally horrible. Baking is one of my hobbies and yet I could not identify what was presented as cakes. I thought Costco made the worst contraption presented as a cake but this one took it to another level of what I am struggling to describe. Even the simple sweets like jelly beans and marshmallows tasted nothing like what we grew up running to the local corner store after school happily to buy. These were indescribable and frankly inedible.
The one star I am giving is for the waiters who were very attentive, polite, smartly dressed and very helpful. I cannot evaluate the price which is £15.99 per person because the food is not worth a penny. Please do NOT waste your money or time visiting that establishment designated as...
Read moreI've been travelling up from London to eat at this restaurant for 4 years, and normally i couldn't fault the food and service.
I'll start with the pros: Beautiful ambience inside the restaurant. Yes it's busy, but the decor looks classy and colourful.
The selection of food is really good, mostly all the food is fresh and there is certainly something for every palate.
Nice selection of drinks and competitively priced. You can order from your table for ease.
Clean toilets
Birthday service feels intimate and not rushed.
Unfortunately the above were overshadowed by the way I was harassed to pay for mine and my family's meal.
I came this evening to celebrate my birthday with my family, smartly dressed. We finished our meal and the staff kindly brought out my cake and sang happy birthday to me. We got up to take pictures and left my birthday cake and our belongings on our table, in full view of the staff. I was asked to pay for our meal by a member of staff, I informed them that we were still taking pictures and would pay when we were ready to leave. We then proceeded to the bar area to take pictures, I was then asked by another member of staff to pay and a card machine was shoved in my face. Again, I informed them that I would pay when we were ready to leave.
After taking more pictures, a very rude woman on the till shoved the card machine in my face and said "you have to pay". I informed her that I would never leave without paying. She signalled for another member of staff to keep an eye on us, as we continued to take pictures. We eventually paid and left, disgusted.
As I said, I and my family came smartly dressed. I have two small children and my wife and I have respectable jobs, why would it even cross my mind to essentially steal?
