A leasure area on the south-eastern slopes of the Great Orme above the town of Llandudno. Much of the of the central portion was terraced and planted during Victorian times. This became somewhat overgrown during the mid and later part of the 20th century, but much work has been undertaken in recent years to bring sections back to its former glory.
The main access to the area is from the Invalid or Lover's path that extends from a point next to the West Shore Toll House to the tramway up the Orme. As intimated by its name jt is an easy walk, although there are zig-zag paths leading up through the gardens to higher areas of the Orme.

Read moreVisited this morning. Lovely friendly chap serving, who gave our pupper a dog treat. You can't take dogs inside but they're welcome in the outside seating area. The place has had some refurbishment since we last visited 2 years ago. Cushions are stored just inside the front door if you want to sit out. And the surroundings - what can I say? Haulfre Gardens is utterly stunning, albeit a fair climb to get to and get around. Worth it though. Fabulous views over all of Llandudno, both shores. The only reason I've given the tea room 4 stars rather than 5 is that they don't take card payments, which seems a little odd given the covid situation: but perhaps it's tricky to get a...
Read moreI've been visiting these gardens since I was a child, it's been amazing growing up with them. A perfect microclimate exists on the southerly side of the Great Orme, the gardens take full advantage of that with some unusual plantings
Great for pottering about and getting ideas for your own garden, higher up that paths get rougher into natural woodland, higher still and you're on the exposed coastal grassland of the Orme
There's a great tea room too - superb homemade cakes served with a smile
