Fish Tram Chips Llandudno — Restaurant in Great Britain

After reading a lot of good reviews and recommendations for this chip shop me and my partner gave it a go and ordered 2 small chips with 1 cod on Saturday evening.

I now know that there are so many good reviews as it would appear after any slightly negative comment, owner replies usually sarcastically and then within a couple of hours there are several 5 out of 5 reviews so any negative comments are not front and center*

A lot of the regular portions (some shops only sell regular and large so in theory as there are only 2 options the regular would be the smaller out of the 2) else where in llandudno are quite healthy so that's why we went small. It doesnt state on the menu board that small is a cone either. I believe this worked out around £13 (£3 for the chips each and £7 for the med cod)

We ordered got a ticket and was waiting out on the street for 25 mins until our order was called we took them away and went back to our room. Once back we discovered that there was around 15 chips in each box (on show in the pic) and the rest crispy straps (underneath what is shown in rhe pic). I thought I'd ring the number on the website rather than going straight back to the chip shop and ask if the price was right at £3 for a small chips and advised my unhappiness considering other chip shops in the area are more competitively priced for the size and to be honest was after taking them back as thought it was a bit of a take on.

Initially the first person I spoke to was fair enough and advised he'd speak to his manager. I then spoke with the manager who confirmed the price was right, stated that a small is equivalent to a cone (but there were no cones in the shop to compare what we would get and the chips were put in a box the size a burger would go in) I had explained the above, how unhappy I was considering and based on this would we be able to come back show him what had been served and have a refund to which he laughed and said "under no circumstances would I be able to refund you based on what your definition of a small / cone portion should be." I said but I can show you what has been served and you can see for yourself and also would this not possible under the circumstances of bad customer service and quality? But again repeated their size ratio measured against a cone very curt and advised no.

I stated I would leave a review advising of my experience as I was really unhappy and he stated you "you don't need the threaten me with leaving a review, but thanks for your call, good bye" then hung up.

Not the experience, customer service or quality you would expect from a small run family business that the manager had advised of, cooked to order.

I would not go to this chip shop the next time we holiday in llandudno and do not recommend.

the point was £5.80 for 2 small portion of chips with 15 chips and lots of scraps in each is not value for money and the quality of them was not great. As with any bad experience, hotel stay, purchase of a product or service if it was not as described or satisfactory you would voice your opinion and seek a refund which is what I did. Customer was not right in the case and the food, service, and reply was poor. Ive added some other sarcastic responses the owners have come back with on other Google reviews in...

went for a takeaway today about 4pm. Cod was lovely the chips were overdone and looked like burnt ends but what annoyed me the most is the weird rude attitude of the fryer...the lady who served me told me it was going to be about 10 minutes which is absolutely fine we were in no rush me and my friend sat outside to wait but it was absolutely roasting and I'd forgotten my suncream and we wanted to eat on the bench in the sun so didn't want to sit for too long at a time to avoid burning so took a break to wait inside for the food. Bearing in mind there was nobody else in there at the time the fryer then says to me passive aggressively "are you OK?" Basically what do you want...and I said oh yes fine just waiting and he said "well it's going to be 7 minutes.. we cook everything fresh here" in quite a defensive way as if me walking in was suggesting they hurry up or something...basically saying go sit outside and wait... so I went back out, dismissed. Honestly ruined my food because it wound me up so much. First rude person I've encountered in Llandudno everyone else here has been so welcoming and lovely and this guy clearly doesn't like customers and has limited people skills. Made me feel like a nuisance the minute I walked in. Won't be going back and won't recommend. Attitude adjustment required here I think.

Edit - thanks for the apology - you did make it abruptly clear when I first walked in and said hello that I wasn't to talk to you about orders but to talk to the girl so it wouldn't have made sense for you to be asking me if I wanted anything else when I stepped back in and your tone creates an impression but I do...

We returned to Tram & Chips in the hope it would be a repeat fantastic experience, unfortunately that was not to be. They did not have any large Cod and no Hake either. When my meal arrived it was small portion of Cod but sold as regular, mostly batter with hardly any fish inside. In my opinion was over cooked and dry and certainly was not worth £13.95 I politely Spoke to the manager regarding my concerns, as a maturing lady I felt bullied by his aggressive response to me. However he reluctantly agreed that I should only pay for the chips and mushy peas. He left me mortified with his parting remark that I should never come back l. All In all I found the experience extremely upsetting / disappointing and suggest the manager reconsider his attitude to providing good...
