Went to the Swigg today with my partner and two children (ages 1 and 2) ordered some drinks for us and the little ones (lemonade/cola etc). Then my partner ordered food - loaded fries and side of chicken strips -£7 for the fries and £7.50 for the strips. He forgot to order ice cream for the kids so literally 1 minute after the food order he asked to order I’ve cream because he forgot and the woman serving said it would take an hour..? An hour for ice cream? I asked wether the food would take that long as well and she said no, that would be 5-10 minutes, but because we’ve put a new order through (1 minute later) that it was too busy now and would take an hour. I asked if she could ask in the kitchen if it could come out the same time as the food but they also refused! Literally two scoops of ice cream for two young children would take an hour. Not happy. So kids couldn’t have that. Anyway when the food came I was pretty shocked. £7.50 for 3 tiny chicken strips. I couldn’t actually believe it… picture included. Read moreImpressed by both the food and the service at The Swigg when I had lunch there with family. The dishes are served on side plate sized dishes, with 2-3 dishes being about right for a light lunch.
We shared a heritage carrot salad, heritage tomato salad with olive tapenade, tofu in lime, coconut and ginger, falafel, cockles and chips.
At £6 per plate it isn't the cheapest place, especially considering the portion size, but each plate was beautifully presented and very well balanced in terms of flavour combinations.
The waiting staff were friendly and attentive, and, in something of a rarity these days, genuine.
We didn't stay for dessert as there was only one gluten free option, which didn't appeal, but we did finish with coffees, which were good.
Will definitely...
