I can't find a place to review the walking tours RIBA North do in Liverpool other than here but I do want to give my review for others and to say thank you. The walking tours are,of course, about the history of Liverpool through its architecture. I joined one that went around the Hope Street area, Cathedral to Cathedral. Fantastic tour from the friendly, witty, informative Brian. Even as a local who loves the history of the city I learned a lot! There is another tour around the waterfront and I will definitely be doing that one. £15 well spent! PS I can see lots of reviews here from visitors who expected Tate Liverpool to be inside RIBA as a full art gallery. It isn't. It is a bespoke partnership and displays are very much around the built environment and sustainability. My suggestion is to take a look anyway, go to the cafe for cake and a drink .... but book ahead onto a Waterfront walking tour! Oh and come back to see the new Tate when it is open next year. Read moreDock side dining club was great.. lovely gin cocktail served by matty om the bar. our group had a bit of everything that was on offer. Haku sushi bar was amazing, Guillermo serves fantastic quesadillas. Our Dutch friends had the bitterballen from chip'd(a taste of home) and thoroughly enjoyed. I got my hands dirty with the you've pulled pork and chorizo on a burger and their house slaw was delicious We also had a thai green curry pizza from pizza co which was interesting and delicious! There is also a traditional style cafe in there serving up classic fish chips and peas which we were also tempted by.......
Read moreI was at first disappointed to arrive at the original Tate and see that it was under renovation and construction. The space at RIBA North is very small but impactful and moving in its content. The staff are very welcoming and knowledgeable of the exhibitions and previous at the Tate. They told me that completion of the renovation for the original Tate will likely be a few years because of the nature of the building - something to look forward to!
