Let me start off by saying this is a wonderful antique market - lots of good items and most of the stall owners were so friendly. I would have given this market five stars, if it were not for one horribly rude stall owner. Looking through the reviews, I have seen others complaining about this woman so I know I'm not imagining this. She refused to give me her name, but she is the red-haired woman selling high-end jewelry out of a glass case outdoors. Here's what happened: I greeted her and asked if I could see one of the bangles she was selling, which was inside the case and partially blocked by another item. She simply stared at me, made no move toward me or the case, and stated the price of the item. I replied, "Okay, can I see it?" She just laughed, crossed her arms, and said "I've just told you the price, you're not a serious buyer." I was thoroughly shocked at this point and asked, "You're really not even going to let me look at it?" and she just kept staring at me, arms crossed. I asked her for her name and she just kept staring at me silently. I have never been so shocked and insulted as a customer before. What kind of salesperson does not let someone even look at their items? This is absolutely no way to conduct business. I'm glad I went to her stall toward the end, otherwise she would have completely ruined my experience at this market. She was such a stark contrast to the other stall owners as well, because everyone else was just so lovely. I was also surprised because this woman had been perfectly pleasant to the customer speaking to her before me - an older, white woman. I'm a young person of color, so I'm not sure whether it was my age or my race that made her discriminate against me and refuse to sell to me, but it was shocking. I spoke to a manager about this, and he was very apologetic, but I really don't think this woman should be allowed to sell here - this is the kind of interaction that would make someone not want to return to this market. To other visitors of this market - if you want a pleasant experience, definitely just avoid this stall if you can. This woman does not deserve your business and there are many other great items and wonderful stall owners. I really hope something is done about this so no one else has the experience I had with...
Read moreLet just say if you are BLACK, DON'T GO THERE!!! I had a really bad experience going there and I already had my hopes high because I have never been to a flea market before. The stall were soo small like 4 or 5, and the compound was really small, I was thinking of a field.
On getting to the place, when my mum and I walked in, it was all eyes on us and they were staring at us and it was so uncomfortable.
We went to the lady whose stall was the second close to the road, she sell rings and pendants. My mum saw a ring that she liked and asked her for the price 3 times and didn't answer her, I also asked the lady too thinking she didn't hear my mum, and she didn't answer me, bear it in mind as we were trying to ask for the price of the ring, she was locking the show glass like we were thieves, we felt so uncomfortable and left to the other stall, but as we leave to the stall beside her we could see that they were give themselves signs and the other lady also locked the show glass and told us she couldn't sell to us.
And meanwhile we saw the first lady showing a customer the ring my mum wanted to buy and she didn't show it to us or even speak to us.
My mum and I didn't last 30min there, so I will advise you not to go if...
Read moreI have previously posted regarding out visit and whilst we did encounter some unpleasantness from some ladies on the outdoor stalls. I want to pay credit to some of the other stall holders. I don't know there names but we bought the rings in the pictures from them so they will know who they are. ( one ring being given to my daughter as a gift from a stall holder which was incredibly generous of him, she loves it) And the lady we bought the necklace from. One man inside the market building and the other man outside. They were amazingly patient, friendly and helpful and when buying for a 4 year old and this it not always an easy task, but they were so kind to her, chatting with her allowing her to touch and try on the jewellery and really participating in what was a memorable and exciting day for her.
(A message also for the owner, I would also like to speak to you regarding the incident with the other stall holders, I don't want to publicly post regarding what happened but I feel its important to discuss this with you. If you could make a method of contact...
