The service was very bizarre and dampened our experience overall - I was told by my friends in advance that it seems like they’re trying to rush you out and I can attest to that. They’ll come and collect your empty plates whilst you’re still eating and will reach over people awkwardly if there’s an empty dish in an odd spot. Keep in mind that none of the staff doing this were asking how our meal was.
The most frustrating part of the service came when it was time to pay. We were handed the bill and we said we were going to pay individually. We were all paying different amounts as some only had small dishes, others had more pricey options. I pulled out the calculator on my phone and started working out how much the split was, my phone was on the table where the server could clearly see what I was doing as I was only one person away. She interrupted me and said rather rudely ‘what are you doing? Look if if you’re splitting it just do it four ways it’s this much each’ and pointed at the bill - me and my table looked at each other in shock, it hadn’t been two minutes nor did she give us any time to figure anything out, this was all as soon as she put the bill down. With the service we had received throughout, we decided to be done with it and just split evenly, having to work it out afterwards.
I typically have patience for staff who might seem a bit off, working in the hospitality industry myself I had quite literally been experiencing the same busy rushes earlier in the day. But I can’t empathise here at all, especially when our service charge was over £7, it just doesn’t seem justifiable.
However, the food itself was good! Very much enjoyed the Kimchi Ramen and my friend’s Albergene karaage was really tasty! Bear in mind some of the servers, including the guy with the glasses, were very polite and understanding! There is good food and good staff of the business at the hear of this business, it’s a shame that such bad...
Read moreMy first time in Bermondsey, such a lovely place. Im glad my colleague found this ramen shop.
Luckily, there was not a queue when we went in to have our meal. We were greeted by the lovely staff, showed us to our seats, gave us their menu and set up our table.
I ordered the KUMAMOTO. Why? GARLIC! I love garlic. So this was a 12 hour pork broth. The taste was very clean and the broth was very rich. It had wood ear mushrooms, garlic chips and burnt garlic oil. It was served with soy stained soft boiled egg, nori and slices of chashu + extra slice of chashu for me. The soup base was thick and the good thing is it could be enhanced more according to your taste preference. I kinda like my ramen base salty so I asked for some chili paste and I added in some freshly ground roasted sesame seeds. Perfect.
We also ordered CHICKEN KATSU SANDO. It is japanese style hot sandwich. Chicken was very juicy, coated with breadcrumbs and deepfried to perfection. Accompanied by vegetables that have a little tang to offset the rich chicken juices. Then the bread, the bread... so soft fluffy and chewy. It was toasted to one side. If they were selling the bread, we wouldve bought a loaf to take home. 😅

The star of the show was undoubtedly their tofu Ramen. A symphony of textures and tastes, the tofu Ramen showcased the chef’s mastery in blending ingredients. The broth, rich and deeply flavorful, hugged each strand of perfectly cooked noodles, creating a dance of satisfaction in every slurp. The addition of tofu brought a delightful contrast to the bowl, offering a delicate creaminess that mingled effortlessly with the broth.
But the excellence didn’t stop at the ramen alone. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the meal. The ingredients were fresh, the presentation was impeccable, and the service was attentive without being intrusive.
