St Marys Church Putney is an icon for all Putney residents and a landmark to greet us on returning home crossing the bridge. I was astonished to see that those presently in control of the building and its usage, made a decision to cancel a "Talk" or debate at this historic venue at short notice and seemingly not seeing the obvious parallels between their actions and the history of the "Putney Debates" and their importance in the rights of free speach regardless of pressure from one side or other of the political classes. I personally have no strong feelings either way regarding the topics, however I was looking forward to an informative and well rounded debate from both sides.

This process demonstrated through the Putney debates, and Oliver Cromwell, and the Army council in Autum 1647. Should be seen as hallowed ground in a secular way also.

It is through the process of cognitive reasoning and debate that science and civilisation is built. The falsification principle proposed by Karl Popper is the bedrock of how we reach a consensus demarcating what is science and what is non-science.

I was further shocked to see that those responsible for the use of the venue, had in fact designated the Dr who was supposed to speak, had been judged by those in control, and sentenced as 'Persona non-Grata". They went on to justify their clearly political censorship by quoting that it had been brought to their attention that the speaker was an ant-vaxer! This information was gleaned from the nations arbiter of truth and justice the BBC !!!!! Those unelected, and clearly a complicit organisation who allowed serious criminal behaviour to run for years putting children and young people at risk. The plethora of instances where the BBC have clearly pushed an agenda of radical left wing disinformation has caused the majority of the country to reject the tax hidden in a license to pay for it.

My main point is that the basis of science ie to have a theory and then Empirical testing of said theory endeavouring to prove the theory wrong.

If we allow persons to arbitrarily chose whom we are allowed to hear in debate, we are in a non-science and facist realm where no dissent is ever heard, and no opinions can be expressed because sombody has bestowed the power on themselves to choose what information you hear. If these people fear debate in its most basic form, then their arguments must be weak and unable to stand the test of debate.

I must add that I am also astonished that this review, although widely read , had only 2 persons intriqued enough to press a thumb for...

Very sweet architecturally pretty 13th century Catholic church situated on the south side of Putney bridge overlooking the river Thames...not to be confused with All saints Anglican church situated at the other end of the bridge on the Fulham side - apparently the only pair of churches in London! attached is a glass fronted cafe/restaurant which is very airy and bright serving great coffee teas breakfast and brunch all reasonably priced with friendly helpful staff ..there is outside seating on the patio overlooking a courtyard where there is an interesting weekly Saturday market selling delicious cheeses breads a large variety of freshly delivered fish and seafood which is very popular with the locals..the area also hosts a pub and restaurant overlooking the river both with outside seating.. altogether a nice area to relax and get away from the bustle of the high street which is only a stones throw away. . the church has a Sunday service at 10am which is open to the public. yards away across the high street is to the west of the bridge is lower Richmond road with its rowing club beautiful walks along the river and...

St Mary's church in Putney is where l will be displaying my art exhibition in November. The staff are very helpful and friendly. It's a lovely hall. And the church itself is beautiful, and lovely interior. It is set in a nice location by the river Thames. Great architecture.
