Stopped by Tortilla at Russell Square for a quick bite. The staff were friendly, though a bit confused at times—I was asked if I wanted “cheese or cheese sauce,” and when I said “cheese,” they still double-checked as if I meant sauce. Not a big deal, but a little off. The food itself was underwhelming. I had a bowl with white rice, pinto beans, beef, and chicken, and everything just felt a bit bland. The meats were just warm because they’d been sitting in bins—nothing is freshly cooked or particularly flavorful. I did get the tortilla chips, though, and those were honestly the star of the meal—crispy, fresh, and flavorful. The chips were the one thing I’d happily have again. There’s street seating and two levels inside, so finding a place to sit wasn’t a problem. But honestly, I wouldn’t go back. With so many great places to eat in London, it’s hard to justify returning somewhere that was just average.

I’ve got to say this is soooo yummy… the only real issue is the price for the quality. I love chains where you can order customisable meals like burritos. However, why do I need to pay extra for guacamole????? Psychologically it doesn’t sit right with me. And most of the meat and CHEESE SAUCE is extra too?? Please… It’s exactly like Chipotle which is a bit strange and not even less expensive. I love the flavours so much but it’s such a hassle and pricey af for something that is so simple to make at home. I do like the filling options though and it’s good if you want a picnic food or something like that.

This is a Chipotle knock off. They do a pretty good job of getting close, but it's not close enough to borrow "California" in the title. The chips are those mass produced grocery store type. The sour cream and salsa are the way watered down type that you can't seem to get a grip on when trying to get a good scoop in a chip. And as you can see in the pic, they need to completely rethink their quesadilla. They absolutely scorched the quesadilla. Yes, that's supposed to be a quesadilla, and yes, they actually plated and delivered it. I don't think anyone would be happy saddling up to this burn victim.

I really wanted to like this place as I typically love burritos and Mexican cuisine. In fact, the food wasn't bad at all! I ended up enjoying my medium "naked burrito"...the problem was the service. I went into the restaurant when there were about 5 people in line. 15 minutes later, I finally made it to the front of the line. After servicing one person in our party, it seemed that an online order needed to be filled. Instead of helping those of us who had been waiting in line for already a long amount of time, the employees spent time filling multiple online orders. I understand this might be company policy to make sure online orders are ready in time, but this was a particular problem in this case because one person in our party had already received their food while we were left waiting, and the online orders used the remainders of the chicken. When it was finally my turn to order, there was no more chicken, and I had to step out of line to wait for more chicken to finish cooking. Mind you, one member of our party with her food still sat by herself with her food. Although the employees were clearly a bit overwhelmed and were doing their best, they didn't seem very apologetic or sympathetic. Prices were also a bit higher than expected, though still reasonable, at $7 for a medium burrito and small soda can. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a quick bite to eat turned into a larger ordeal. Based on the great reviews, this doesn't seem to be the norm for them, and hopefully they were just having a bad night..but the service was less than...

What a rip off!! Just got home and ate. Not impressed at all. I ordered one with chicken, where there was not much chicken inside. They seem to pack out with cheaper ingredients like rice and beans. It was supposed to be £6.95 for a medium which mysteriously turned into £7.95 without me realising. When I queried the price the girl explained why. But wasn’t too clear to me tbh. They should make clearer if extras added on, especially when some of us are being careful with what’s been going on with the cost of living crisis etc. The dialect of the first server was very hard to understand and she’s firing at me at machine gun pace assuming I understand what she was saying. We are not all connoisseurs of tortillas you know!! And I’m sure she could see I was struggling to get what was what. But she continued regardless. I guess customer satisfaction isn’t high up on their agender. Get their money and get them out the door seems more fitting to me. Better customer service training required imo. One Star is the lowest score unfortunately. If up to me -2 is more fitting. You wont see me back in there again. I wish I got a £3.40 meal deal from Tesco...
