We consider ourselves fairly experienced escape room players â weâve completed over 30 rooms in several countries and cities. After some early successes, we started focusing mainly on the most challenging ones (8/10â10/10 difficulty).
We arrived at this escape room a little hesitant, as our recent experiences with English escape rooms hadnât quite lived up to the glowing online reviews. We werenât sure if the high ratings here would be accurate either. Fortunately, from the moment we arrived, our worries disappeared. Anthony gave us a warm welcome â and this was actually the first escape room weâve been to where you could even buy a drink on-site if you hadnât brought your own, which was a nice touch.
The rooms were located in a completely separate, enclosed area that you could only enter with a game master. It felt a bit unusual at first, but it actually added a sense of exclusivity and made the whole experience feel more special. The moment we stepped inside the room, we immediately felt that this was what we had been waiting for.
The atmosphere was spot-on â the design, the lighting, the props, everything perfectly captured the world of Alice in Wonderland. For hints, there was a little âcall bell,â and whenever we rang it, one of the game masters would respond. The best part was that they did it in character, speaking in the style and tone of the Cheshire Cat â it added a fantastic immersive element to the game. The only small thing we missed was some background music, but thatâs really just nitpicking.
This was clearly a new-generation escape room â there was maybe one traditional key lock in the entire game, and everything else worked with sensors and magnets. The puzzles were wonderfully varied, with plenty of clever, think-outside-the-box moments, yet everything followed a logical flow. In places where the English might have caused us trouble, we were given a bit of extra help right from the start, which was much appreciated.
Honestly, thereâs nothing significant we could criticize â apart from the lack of background music, everything was truly excellent. After the game, we even had a chance to chat a little, though it was clear they were quite busy even for an early weekday afternoon, so both game masters had their hands full. Still, the atmosphere remained friendly and welcoming.
If thereâs one place weâd absolutely love to return to on our next visit, itâs this one. A perfect blend of creativity, immersion, and fun â we canât recommend it...
Read moreMy family and I did Eye of the Sun God as a Fatherâs Day gift day out. This escape room was absolutely brilliant - from the moment we stepped in, the atmosphere was immersive and thrilling. The set design was top-notchâevery detail, from lighting to sound effects, added to the tension and excitement. It genuinely felt like stepping into a movie with a themed background soundtrack as well!
You can tell there was a lot of thought that has gone into the props and puzzles which were incredibly well thought out. You can have as many hints as you need if you get stuck but we worked as a team and didnât need any extra help to escape. Each puzzle flowed seamlessly into the next, and we loved how they incorporated unique mechanics and clever use of the ambiance and environment.
What really stood out were the effects. Whether it was secret doors sliding open, timed surprises, or interactive elements, everything felt polished and professional. It kept us busy the entire time, and we managed a respectable 26.30!
The staff were also super friendly and enthusiastic, clearly passionate about what they do, which made the experience even better. Big thanks to our host Alex!
Highly recommend this escape room to both newcomers and experienced players. Easily one of the best weâve done. Weâll definitely be coming back to try their other rooms!
Great job Escape Hunt Manchester -...
Read moreHaving been to other Escape Hunt locations and had a great time, I was really excited to try the 'Eye of the Sun God' escape room at Escape Hunt Manchester. Unfortunately, my experience left me disappointed. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt flat. There was no personal greeting or real enthusiasm from the staff like other Escape Hunt locations Iâve visited. We were greeted and then quickly ushered to the room. No introductions, no excitement about the game, no effort to get us hyped up or get to know us more â it felt very rushed and impersonal.
Once we entered the room itself, things didnât improve. The temperature inside was unbearable. It was so hot that it made the experience uncomfortable, and we struggled to focus on the puzzles because of it. On the plus side, the roomâs design was quite impressive. The quality of the set pieces and puzzles showed that the creators had put thought into it, and it had some really interesting elements.
Ultimately, I expected more from both the experience and the staff. While the room itself was good, the lack of enthusiasm and the uncomfortable temperature really took away...
