June 2024 First time back at MK casino in a few years. A lot has changed in some areas but not for the better I’m afraid.
Positives The food we had was tasty and had a decent amount of choices. Staff in this area were friendly and helpful.
Negatives -Scruffy. No dress code and it comes across like a betting shop sometimes. Wayyyy too many double 00 roulette tables. I think I only saw one single 0 table and that had fairly high minimum bets. A seasoned gambler knows that it’s a greedy con made by casinos to increase their edge. Saps the fun out of playing. A lot of our team grew bored quickly as things were too expensive. Blackjack also had expensive minimum's. No crapps table. This is one of the best casino games and it’s shocking there isn’t one especially as it’s such a social game. Staff / customer service is abysmal. For the amount of money you spend, you’d expect staff service to be good. The staff in the restaurant were great but everywhere else in the casino it was awful. Everyone we spoke to really didn’t seem happy to be there. No one on the desks for the cloakroom. Dealers and pit bosses couldn’t be more miserable. Bar had long waits. One member of staff on a Saturday night trying to serve multiple customers. Atmosphere a bit dull. Many years ago, the casino was full of people and energy. Now it seems seedy, greedy and run down. I think the high prices have driven the masses away.
It’s a real shame because many years ago, this casino was incredible. We would go every Saturday and always have a decent night. It’s now too expensive, the games are changing for the worse as stakes and house edges are increasing and the general atmosphere, customer service and scruffiness is poor.
If you are looking for casinos in the local area, I would advise you go to the Luton Casino as the service and game offers are considerably better. There is also a better atmosphere there with a slightly more...
Read moreI am updating my review as a lot have changed after covid. I have updated after covid review, as rules have changed and I forgive and forget.
----2023 visits------ We sometimes visit during evenings. Nowadays it's very quiet and the atmosphere is dead. On the weekdays the roulette tables are. £1 , but it seems like only 2 tables are opened. Slot machines are dead. One male staff who was handling the machine near the slots was quite rude. I asked for a soft drink and he told me to wait 1 sec. So I waited 15min as he avoided my line of sight.
One positive note. One croupier was very cheerful and playful, his name is Ovi.
-----New year visits 2024---- Unfortunately. This year has to be the worst. The staff seemed unhappy. Yes they had the usual champagne, count down and live dj. But the staff really were not a vibe. One female bar staff look bamboozled when i asked for tissue roll to clean the floor from a spilled drink from another guest. Like hello ? 👋
Machines finally had loads of people playing , roulette had 3 tables opened when we arrived which was during midnight. But they were max £2 bet. :(
They also did not serve food that night so we had to order pizza and sit outside to eat👹👹👹
Overall, pre-covid times had more staff smiling. We really enjoyed interacting with the staff. The restaraunt and bar would serve lovely food to us. I truly enjoyed it back then..now its very hard.
-----After covid visit‐------- Finally visited after a year and a half (because of COVID). Before that we often go.
I must say the service has definitely gone down.
But the staff do make up for all this , they are lovely as always ! Really surprised one security guard remembers us and the same with a waitress and people at the cash desk ! Love them all ! One new croupier was also very welcoming and playful ! :) (sorry forgot names, was a long night we came from...
Read moreBooked an Aces poker package for my stag-do over a year in advance and three days before the event, the casino announces it’s closed due to Aspers ceasing trading. Only the website of the Stratford casino has posted that they were open again from 4pm today.
of course, regardless now we cannot cancel accommodation or make alternate plans from the short notice without losing significant money, and I have guests who booked a day off work for this event.
Really disappointing. I’d been looking forward to it for so long, and Aspers just have nothing to say but sorry.
The second star is because it seems to have been out of the staff at the casinos hands, but at the same time they still sent us out the wrong menus and didn’t realize til all choices were collected and didn’t offer any kind of compensation for their mistake, and then there’s no compensation for this cancellation except a refunded deposit and some apologetic words.
I really feel a company as large as Aspers with the reputation they have ought to have been able to deliver something other than total disappointment for such a big life event booked so far in advance.
Package options were Aces or King’s, but I must have...
