At first I was a bit taken aback by having a timeslot to be in, but after arrival and being at the café that was completely put off. Plenty to do and our waiting time (we were too early by like 40min) flied away with all the amazing stuff in the cafe(I feel next time we need to consider time at the cafe as well so children can fully explore it too, we were on a busy time schedule cause train times). Once inside the timeslot make perfect sense. Place wasn't too crowded you couldn't move, children could have a shot at mostly everything and you had just enough time to explore most of the place without rushing too much. Loved it. Loved the science centre, not too big and overwhelming and catched my children's full attention, they absolutely loved every single bit of it. The best café I've been to in a child attraction, completely child focused, loved all the areas, from the themed booths, peeking boxes, discovery boxes(this were amazing), crafting area and the play area just at the center so you could see children from every table. Very well thought, curiosity picking and pretty amazing. Prices were also great, which is surprising in this type of places too, so not a single complaint. Not too busy so children had a chance to get a shot in mostly everything without waiting much. Staff was very welcoming, helpful and engaging. The only downside for me would be that they don't have lockers to leave stuff, though they do have coat hangers where you could leave stuff at...
Read moreWe have annual memberships for The Science centre so can take our children as often as we like. The memberships are great value for money, my three children love a trip there whether itâs for 30 minutes or three hours.
My daughter had her 7th birthday party there yesterday and it was so easy! We paid a deposit of 50% of ten holders when we booked it then just paid the remaining balance of however many children turned up on the day - so sensible to not have to pay the balance up front when some parents donât reply to party invitations!
The staff were wonderful with the children, the party bags were provided and full of plenty great wee toys. The food was good quality party food with just the right mixture of treats and actual food. There was plenty of food and juice for everyone there (we had 15 children). I expected the experiments to be more hands on but the children all seemed to enjoy it very much. I would have liked the pots of slime to be labelled so each child took home their own slime, that was a bit disappointing as my daughter take home slime was pretty gloopy where the one she made was much better. Over all a brilliant place...
Read moreWe took 2 kids 10 and 12yo, many of the exhibits were broken, kids were running riot with parents happy to let them. When we told the staff there were kids breaking things he said "yeah some parents just let their kids go crazy", That was it, he actually did nothing.
My kids went to use an exhibit that moves a marble type thing "with your mind" he said "well you can have one go then I have to close" I asked him what time he closed he said 5pm, it was just after 4pm!
Some exhibits you sit for 10 minutes before you realise it is broken - a few staff checking them and putting up out of order signs would be good, never once did I see a member of staff in that whole area, though I did see a few out of order signs on some other equipment.
I felt so bad for the kids they had been to Glasgow Science Centre and had a great time this was a big disappointment, I felt compelled to write this.
If you want a half-arsed day out with half-arsed staff and half-arsed exhibits...
