Buyer beware! Careful shopping at Rick's Collectibles! They will add money to your total if you aren't paying attention. Yes, I should have been paying attention. But, I was distracted by my family trying to show me stuff while I was checking out. The gentleman behind the counter had told me that the stickers were 50 cents a piece. So I let my family choose 14 stickers and I chose three. Which came out to 17 stickers. My total should have been $8.50. But it was $15. I did not realize this until after I had already tapped my card because he didn't say my total out loud. He just said it was ready. I questioned the man about the total because he had just told me that they were 50 cents a piece. He proceeded to tell me that they were ACTUALLY buy 10 get one free. So he lied in the first place. But, the receipt read two stickers at $5 each and five stickers at $2.50 each. Even these amounts reflected would have been over $15. Unless in fact the stickers were actually $2.50 and $5. In this case then I did get one sticker for $2.50 free and one sticker for $5 for free. But the amount of stickers reflected nor the total matched on the receipt. He continued to attempt justifying that I had gotten stickers for free. And no way they would have been 50 cents a piece not matter how you look at it. Had we not been in a hurry to get to the movies I would have asked for my money back. Horrible customer service and something a little shady going on behind the scenes. We...
Read moreUPDATE AS OF MAY 3RD 2025: Never in wildest thoughts did I ever think that Rick's Collectables would charge you during an event that's meant to provide free comic books on FREE COMIC BOOK DAY.
Not only are they expecting you to buy something before getting these comics, they turned the free comics into a Blind Bag situation. You can't pick what you want like it's always been. My boyfriend was looking for the Mega Man comic specifically cause his friend made that comic issue for this event! You are gatekeeping free comics in order to make a profit. You literally monopolize this town and turn everything into a greedy way to make money. You are the most cash grabbing collectible store I've ever had to deal with. You are anti-hobby and anti-consumer. This is the last time I'm ever walking into to your store, and I'll make sure others know your terrible business practices.
-------------------------‐-------------------- Original review from 2024:
Please, if you're looking to buy Pokemon TCG packs, DO NOT buy from Rick's. They are overpriced and resealed. The booster boxes are not in their purest manufactured state. Also, their customer service is awful and tone deaf. I wish for healthier competition for collectibles in Abilene,...
Read moreWell, I'm never going to visit this store again. Rick tried scamming me, like he's doing to a ton of his customers, like with the Marvel Legends Falcon and the Winter Soldier Captain America shield that he has in his window for $180, $80 over MSRP while it's still available elsewhere.
But my example comes from his Burning Godzilla figure that he had priced at $130. I asked him about trading an extra of the shield listed above that I had been sent when I ordered mine, and he offered 50% MSRP, even towards the Godzilla figure. I asked him if he could go lower, since I had seen it online for $90. Rick had the AUDACITY to try telling me, a collector, that his stuff is priced at MSRP.
So I'm leaving this review to show everyone the price he has his figure at, the MSRP from the makers of the figure themselves, and the $90 pricetag where you can actively get it elsewhere, shipped and sold by Amazon. Rick, I've been a long time customer, but no more. You've lost my faith, and I would rather pay the scalper price than to shop at your store any more. I'll probably get a better price from...
