BEST experience ever!! Highly recommended!! My husband and I stayed in one of the cabins here for 4 nights and we loved our stay. First of all, the location is perfect - you can see the northern light in the cabins! This's really helpful, as you don't need to drive to somewhere at a freezing cold night, and you could take terrific pictures of the light along with the pond and trees in front of your cabin and then stay warm in the cabin enjoying the light. You also might see moose in the yard. Second, the cabin is super clean and cozy and well heated. In the cabin, there is microwave, refrigerator, purified water, TV, a table and leather chairs. We slept so well and felt at home. The breakfast is very nice, just like what you would eat at grandparents'. Last but not least, the host Jim and Syd are very nice, considerable people, and they have a great passion for sharing what they know about Alaska with travelers in a way that would help your trip rather than their interest. We had a lot of fun going ice fishing with Jim and he cooked fish w/ rice for us that was really delicious! They also helped us pack the rest of the fishes we caught and now we have plenty of fresh Alaskan fishes at home:) They felt like family to us - Jim is very funny and Syd is really good at telling stories - we had many sweet moments with them and they even made us a yummy pineapple cake for our birthday!! We had such a wonderful time here and love Jim and Syd. We would definitely come back in...
Read moreJim & Syd were amazing hosts! Their hospitality was above & beyond. If you're looking for comfortable, furnished, wooden cabins instead of a basic hotel room, you have come to the right place! Cabins have comfortable beds, table, chairs, coffee maker, fridge, water jug, satellite tv and GREAT wifi! Oh and a fabulous view overlooking the pond they have on the property (stocked with rainbows - we caught 3!). Can go swimming too. You can also pan for gold on site. Jim has a very neat setup; he has all the buckets, grates and pans you'll need. Jim & Syd made our stay very welcoming. Made amazing breakfast in the morning and even had us over for dinner! We had many great laughs over Mikes Hard Lemonades! The shower house is still under construction, so the toilets do not work (yet), but there is a porta-potty on site (which Jim keeps very clean). The showers are fully functioning, unlimited hot water! Jim has been busy working on finishing installing his septic system, and when that is done (in a weeks time), he will have the toilets in the shower house working up to par! Stayed here 2 nights (originally was supposed to be 1 night but we just didn't want to leave)! Would 100% recommend to my friends visiting the Fairbanks/North Pole area and can't wait to visit them again! Eating Syd's famous apple/cinnamon dessert recipe as I'm typing this!...
Read moreI had an amazing experience with Jim at Alaska Guided Luxury Ice Fishing Tours in Fairbanks, AK! When I first thought about ice fishing, I pictured sitting in a small hut on a frozen lake, waiting for a fish to bite. But Jim’s setup completely changed my expectations—it was next-level.
Right away, I could tell this wasn’t your typical ice fishing trip. His 43-foot luxury ice house was warm, comfortable, and decked out with underwater cameras so we could actually see the fish before they even bit the line. It made the whole experience way more interactive and exciting. Plus, he knew exactly where to take us for the best catches—Arctic Char, Rainbow Trout, King Salmon, and Burbot were biting all day.
Jim is super knowledgeable and made the whole trip fun and stress-free. He set everything up, explained what we needed to do, and helped us reel in some great fish. And the best part? He cooked our fresh catch right there on the ice! Hands down, it was some of the best fish I’ve ever eaten—perfectly cooked and served with jasmine rice. You can’t get fresher than that.
If you’re ever in Fairbanks and want a one-of-a-kind ice fishing experience, I 100% recommend Jim’s luxury ice fishing tour. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced angler, this is the...
