My wife and I swung into here while walking Skagway’s mainstreet and what we expected to be just another quick stop-n-shop turned out to be a real treat. The two guys working the jewelry counters on 5/25/25 when we were there were just incredibly knowledgeable about the unique Alaskan artworks they sold and shared tons of stories about the history of the jade pieces, baleen baskets, ivory carvings galore, and more. It was really cool to hear them share what they knew about the history of the art making processes and where the “scene” is at currently. You could tell that apart from trying to make some sales for the business they really seemed to care about giving us a good experience while in the shop, and as 2 honeymooners in town for just the day we really appreciated them. Great shop and inventory, but the friendliness of those two guys and the passion they had for the artworks and jewelry they sold was what set this place apart from the litany of other jewelers...
Read moreI discovered this shop by surprise. And what was really interesting inside of the swimming stories a nice museum. Museum is completely free and has beautiful exposition. I have attached some of the pictures in the few movies as well. It’s really worthy to visit this place because to compare with other souvenir store in the Skagway. This one is unique. Read moreAs museums go, it's quite small and is extremely crowded as it's in the back of a very large gift shop and it's a free museum in a very busy tourist town! The displays are beautifully done and the ivory history is well documented so definitely worth a quick stop as you walk through Skagway.
