I recently had the pleasure of visiting Aurora Jewelers in Skagway, Alaska, and I must say it was a delightful experience. This locally-owned jewelry store, led by the charming owner Shawn and his wonderful staff, stands out in a unique way.

During our visit, my wife and I met Shawn and his team, who made the experience truly memorable. Unlike other jewelry stores in Skagway, where the focus was often on our budget and making a sale, Aurora Jewelers offered a refreshing change. Shawn and his crew were polite, relaxed, and genuinely interested in ensuring we had a pleasant experience. This relaxed atmosphere put us at ease, and although we initially had no intent of purchasing anything, we ended up leaving with some beautiful jewelry and a gold nugget.

My wife and I both felt very comfortable throughout our visit. My wife doesn't do well with high-pressure sales tactics, and we often leave stores quickly if we feel bombarded with questions or pressured to buy. It was nice to just be able to look around quietly without being constantly asked what we were looking for.

Shawn provided me with excellent advice on finding items I felt comfortable with. Our conversation about his 20+ years in the business was both informative and enjoyable. His expertise and genuine passion for his craft were evident throughout our interaction.

We are so impressed with the quality of service and the beautiful selection at Aurora Jewelers that we plan on calling them in the future to have jewelry mailed to us. I visited Skagway, Alaska in June, 2024 and went into the Aurora Jewelry Store near the cruise port. This store has some unique and beautiful pieces, and I bought three of the glacier necklaces. While there, and working with Roger, I looked at a lab-created diamond, 2 carat approximately, but wasn’t ready to make a commitment on the spot. I did my research and discovered Aurora’s quality and pricing is excellent and reasonable - very fair. I called and arranged to ship my wedding ring from Michigan - they emailed a prepaid and insured UPS label and I included a 14-carat gold heart pendant that means a great deal to me and have had it for over 40 years. I worked with Shawn who selected a gorgeous lab-created diamond and assured me that his Master Jeweler could take the diamond from my wedding band and mount it in the heart pendant. The work was done in short order and fine-fashion and shipped back to me promptly. The communication was excellent throughout the process, and the ring and heart pendant are absolutely gorgeous. I couldn’t be happier, and will work with this store again.
