I sure hate basing a review of a company based on one individual, but I feel it is important to post our experience (which does not sound like the norm). My wife and I were with our one year old on a separate bus happily in line with our group to take pictures at the "Welcome to Alaska" sign when a tour bus pulled up and folks started lining up behind us (nice of them, right?). Tour bus plate was GMG689 commercial plate CF538.
Everything was still perfect until their tour guide (Beverly) began splitting lines so everyone can share the sign. I understand the premise but we (and all of Beverly's bus) wanted a picture with the whole Alaska sign. Not 75% of it shot off to the side, which is effectively what we got.
Had Beverly not spent so much time shuffling people around and literally drawing lines in the dirt for people to stand on everyone could have made it through the line with no issue. Our entire bus said they were glad they had not been with that group, and several looks from Beverly's group expressed the same discomfort.
I'm sure Beverly did it all with good intentions, and again, I completely understand everyone is on timetables. But had the situation been approached differently, I think everyone would have been happy AND got what they wanted instead of a poorly composed picture in addition to a bad taste in my mouth for another tour guide.
Again, no issues with Frontier Excursions. ...
Read moreThis was our second excursion with Frontier Excursions and Adventures. We booked a Yukon Adventure tour. We were greeted right at our cruise ship dock by Mike, boarded a 25 passenger mini bus and set off on a 6 hour tour of the Yukon. It was an amazing trip! Mike, our driver/guide was full of information and very entertaining. Katie and Cris replied to my emails promptly and we're so kind and courteous. If you don't want to take the White Pass Railroad shore excursion where you are couped up on a train and then transferred to a huge bus to return to your ship, try Frontier Excursions. Over the 6 hour tour, we stopped at least 5 times to get out and take pictures of Emerald Lake, at the Alaska and Yukon signs, at a beautiful waterfall called Brides Veil Falls, and at scenic Bennett Lake all before arriving at the outpost where we had lunch and saw dog sled dogs (you can even get a dog sled ride). The tour ended with a stop in Carcross, Yukon, CA. Go to the General Store for ice cream. We had opportunities for potty breaks along the way. It was a wonderful day!...
Read moreThis was a wonderful day. The owner Chris responded personally to my many questions. The 5 hour tour to The Yukon Territory was even better than we had hoped for. Our driver was Mike and he was so knowledgeable about local customs, nature, history and the Skagway region. He also has a wicked good sense of humor and a library of puns, "stupid" jokes and colorful local stories. He took his time, answered questions, timed our stops perfectly, never made us feel rushed and took great photos for everyone. His quick eye spotted a black bear, fox, mountain goats and he stopped or slowed (safely) for us to view. If you are looking to spend a day seeing sights, stopping for stunning vista's, taking some breathtaking photos and not being crammed into an up-and-back train or huge charter bus this is the tour for you. Ask for Mike and have him tell you about the monster fish he caught. Five...
