4th of July after the parade my Wife and I went looking for somewhere to eat and decided tio go to The Station cause we haven't ate there this trip.(been here 3 times for a week at a time) we went in and got a seat. The 1st thing my wife noticed was when we got our drinks they were in small cups in comparison to everyone else who was eating there. We ordered a pizza and motz. The pizza was really good but our server not so much. My wife had to ask for refill and i never got or was offered one. Another server got us a to go box for the pizza and was much more personable than ours. To top it off they, unlike the other establishments in Skagway, tack on an automatic 18.5% gratuity. We were lucky to recieve 5% service. We always tip, most of the time 20 plus% if the service is good but to be made to tip for shitty service is unacceptable. Maybe if the service was better they would not feel so compelled to make it mandatory. The flip side is if there's alwaysa tip, at 18.5%, what's the incentive for the servers to...
Read moreThe pizza rolls were outta this world - perfe t dough, perfectly crusted over with chees in the oven, no skimpin' on ingredients- very yummy! Btw- the pepperoni, bacon, jalapeno, garlic combo for the rolls is damn hott! You get 2 toppings that come with and then you can add on - those were the 4 I chose and it was killer. We came out for the 4th of July and had a great time just hanging out, eating food and drinking beer; they had live music outside. Service stayed busy but kept up with it all. Our waitress was super cute and very friendly. Overall, I think the food was pretty decent- the burger and wings didn't hit the mark as high as the the pizza rolls for me, but it was still quite enjoyable. I think its probably one of the better places to...
Read moreStopped in Skagway with the cruise, and was intent on a different restaurant near downtown. But with weather and a crowded line, we decided to try The Station, which looks like a little pub out of the main foot traffic. This was such a good decision. It feels like a little local place, and the seafood was fresh from the water. The Alaskan Clam Chowder was creamy, chock full of clam, and deliciously seasoned. The "Mermaid burger", which was grilled halibut on a bun, was fresh, and market priced. It came with housemade tartar sauce that was so dill heavy, it was easily visible, and fabulous. If I could buy that tartar sauce by the jar and ship it home, I would. Off the main strip, but...
