University Laundromat — Attraction in Albuquerque

Second time coming here. Be sure to watch your items as I've seen a couple instances where someone tried to take someone else's clothes from the dryers (one time was bizarre--the guy folded a load of laundry and put it into his basket and another man walked up and asked him what he was doing and took his clothes back). Also, the large washers seem to leak. Everything was fine with the washer until it went to rinse the load and then it started leaking all over the floor. The attendant told me off in spanish that I didn't check my clothes? It's not the first time I've used a large washer and I'm fairly certain I didn't overload it. If anything, I underloaded it because I wasn't sure how their large washers were. This seems consistent with the claims of some others--there are quite a few broken washers and dryers with tags on them. The place is very clean which is great and being open until 10 PM helps. The dryers take a tremendous amount of time compared to other places I've been. It has taken me $0.75-$1.00 (24-32 minutes) to dry a half a load (small washer) of laundry and that's on the 'high heat' mode. The customer service was terrible. I was told that my laundry would be done around 3:30/4. I said ok, assuming the posted sign of hours was outdated. I returned at four and there was no attendant. Thinking perhaps I heard wrong, I again returned at 4:30 and knocked on the service door. No reply and no attendant in sight. I tried calling the number Google Maps gave. The number simply rang and rang. I went inside to look and knock again. Still no attendant. I finally left around 4:35 to keep my schedule. I wasn't able to return until 8:15 pm. When I knocked on the service door an attendant came over. I told him I was unhappy and what happened. He said he didn't get there and that it wasn't his fault. I said it certainly was - he wasn't there at posted hours. I won't be spending money here again. I'm looking for a place with decent customer service and staffed when it says it's staffed. They had my number and could have simply called when it was done. Plenty of other laundromats in this town to offer patronage. Two stars because the laundry was generally done the way I asked but the service is inexcusable.

I give two stars because the washing machine actually worked. After the washer I put my clothes in a dryer. I had 90 minutes of allocated time on the dryer. I checked 60 minutes later and all the clothes were cold and the machine wasn't hot at all. I asked the two ladies working if there was a problem with the machine. They don't speak English. It takes around 10 minutes for them to understand there's something wrong with the machine by consistently touching the glass to see if it was still cold. Finally they indicated I should place the clothes in a different machine. They asked how many quarters I put in - I said 90 minutes worth. After the confusion I finally said around $4 or so. They interpreted this as four quarters. there was already more than four quarters worth of time left on the machine I had just changed from... The laundromat was closing soon. I now have to go back and rewash and redry my clothes because they are wet. In retrospect I probably should have been more assertive about the actual cost that I spent trying to...
