DO NOT GO HERE. Feb 3. update: Even after writing Disney Guest Services the same night because it was an upsetting anniversary experience, an email arrived yesterday, saying nothing could be done because the manager already gave us a refund (20% off the bill & a kid's meal because it was untouched.) I responded and nada so far. So, unless you're willing to make a big fuss when you're dissatisfied, rather than accepting whatever staff offer you, don't go here. GOOD-BYE DISNEY.
Short version: We intentionally changed our dinner plans to celebrate our anniversary at a Disney restaurant so that we could fully enjoy our experience and go on more rides on our last day. We've frequented Disney parks many times over the past few decades. Unfortunately we were hugely disappointed and do not recommend this restaurant. It did not live up to the “Disney experience” BY FAR. $36 rib-eye steak, was greyish and thin. Pricey even with the 20% discount and free kid’s meal (uneaten) we were offered for our poor check-in and service experience. We were so disenchanted that we took whatever was offered so that we could leave. Very poor service, communication among staff, uncaring attitude and pricey.
Long version: I arrived an hour prior to our early dinner reservation of 5:45. 2/3 of the restaurant was empty and I asked the hostess if I could sit with one of our kids who was exhausted and have some appies while we waited for the other two members of our party. I also mentioned that it was our anniversary when asked if there was a special occasion (there was no way to indicate this via the app).
Was told no problem and asked to enter my phone number on a device. No explanation was given and thankfully I had an out of country phone plan (we're non-US) because then then I was told I'd be texted in about 10 min. when our table was ready.
A few minutes later (not 10 min. which was nice), I received the text. Upon meeting another person, she asked where the other two people were. I explained again and was told that we couldn't be seated until everyone was present. I stated that I'd mentioned this to the hostess (who was standing beside her & talking to someone else), but received a curt reply, “it’s policy” and was told I could go to the service areas to left or right and wait for my party. I asked about our reservation and was told that we'd already checked in, there would be no problem and to come back when everyone was here. So, we waited elsewhere.
Upon arrival at our reservation time and with all 4 of us, our reservation could not be found. It took 5 mins. and I ended up showing this other person the reservation on my phone. After being seated and looking at the menu, our server took our drink and food order. Bread was served.
Over 35 min. later our food arrived by yet another person. We had to ask this person for our drinks. Meanwhile the table beside us had a manager (in blue uniform) come by and apologize for their experience and offered to cover their bill, etc., so something was going on. In hindsight...
Drinks finally came and our server came by a few minutes later asking how things were. By this time it was an hour past our reservation, one child wouldn’t eat, and considering our experience and looking at our entrees (thin, greyish rib-eye and some veggies at $36 a plate which was rather blah), we asked to speak with the manager.
A woman (in arrived a burgundy uniform like the servers - so there’s a hierarchy of sorts). After explaining our situation we were offered fast passes or dessert. We explained this was our last day. So she offered the removal of one child’s meal since it was not touched, and a 20% discount. We just accepted this as we were so fed up and just wanted to leave. There was no time to experience another ride by then either given the wait times and the park closing within 30 min. So we packed up and left the restaurant and park.
Having frequented California Adventure and Disneyland many times over decades and Disney Tokyo, this trip and (anniversary) dinner were HUGELY...
Read moreWe had high hopes in this experience as we were told by a friend that it's one of their favorites. Those hopes came crashing down very early and fast.
We had dinner reservations but showed up at 11am to have the WORLD OF COLOR package added to our reservation so we could get good seats for the show. When we returned for our reservation time, they were behind and were finally sat 17 minutes late. We were escorted to our table and deposited quickly and without explaination of all the different menus we were given including a Prix Fixe menu with a high amount as the price, (remember this detail.) We were sat smack dap in the middle of the outside patio area surrounded by heavy duty unbrellas in stands. The staff was rushing all around us, and from the get-go, our server Kevin B seemed distracted and impatient. He asked if we had questions , and we said no because we already knew what we wanted a head of time. I told him I had an allergy of Fish and Shellfish. We ordered everything and he ran away. My partner had a side salad and fried Calamari as his meal($25), which he said was really good. I ordered the Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo WITHOUT SHRIMP ($26). Instead, we substituted sauté mixed veggies. It was nothing to scream home about. The sauce was extremely runny and flavorless, but the noodles tasted homemade. When the order came out via Good Runner, they were on the same tray, and his calamari had slid and was touching my plate, so I asked for it to be remade. If I had not been paying attention, I would have been extremely sick. My new plate came out 10 minutes later. During all this , the sun had started going down, and one of the staff members started to push/slide the umbrellas in their stands away from the tables deafeningly loud; cast iron against stone. Really ruined the rest of the mood we were holding on too. I couldn't eat fast enough so we could get out of there. We paid and left. As we were walking away, I realized we never got out tickets for WORLD OF COLOR seating. So I went back and told the host to stand. They said that was weird and asked if we ordered from the Prix Fixe menu and said no. No one explained the menus to us. She went and got a manager who then questioned me and started to put up a fight about not giving us the tickets because we didn't order from the correct menu. I again said we were never explained to about anything by anyone. After some back and forth, she left after saying, "Let me see what I can do." 5 minutes after some other young girl came out with the 2 tickets and sweetly said,"Have a nice day." The manager couldn't even come out to respectfully give the tickets to me. She had to send someone else. Unbelievable.
*rule of thumb: the nicer the restaurant at Disneyland, the more disappointing it will be. Our quick service and buffet meals were better quality and service than...
Read moreThis is not about the food. The food was w actually pretty decent. The review is for the horrible service we got.
We checked in over the app. Got the text that our table was ready. Went up to the host stand and the lady asked for first and last name said if we even had a reservation…. She then found us and said “oh your table is actually ready”. Waited a couple of minutes for the table. We st down… wait for a good 15min. We’re only given one menu for a party of 5 adults and 2 kids.
Our server (Mike) finally showed up after a while… he’s awkward and rude and wants us to order right away. Even though we stated we weren’t ready. Some of the guest on the table asked for recommendations and he just vaguely answer with something that wasn’t even helpful. We finally ordered and waited for our food. Drinks came in probably 20 minutes after everything.
We get our food… it’s ok tasting nothing worth of 59+ per person. Mike never checked in on us. We asked for drink refills and he never brought them until we asked for them twice again.
Finally takes our dessert options. Brings us the check. I’m a pass holder and they usually asked me before bringing the check if I’m a pass holder to add the discount. He didn’t and ran the card. I go to the host stand and asked if it would be possible to add it now. It’s a 20% discount on a 350+ check.
The guy says he has to check with Kirkland and that’s when everything went even more downhill. Kitland (not sure if I spelled it right) needs to really get a new job not on customer service. She was rude and made me feel like I was asking her for the biggest favor in life.
Didn’t make me feel welcome if anything she make me feel like the biggest bothered ever. She said we would take a long time to figure out the issue, I said I didn’t mind waiting. She said it would only be like $5 dollars. Not sure why on a check of 350+ how is that 5 dollars. Either or I say sure let’s do it. Finally asked me what pass I have and rudely asked me to write the numbers while she rolls her eyes and hand me a pen.
After a while… 30min or so. Everyone on the staff looks bothered. Mike says that it’s going to take a really long time and etc etc etc…. We said it’s fine. Finally they bring the check and my brother in law goes to sign. Leaves a 22% and Mike has the guts to count the tip in front of us! Right there and then! Who does that! Like who in the world does that!!!!
Joe stay will never come back. And if anyone does please try not to get Mike nor kitland to help you.
Worse experience at a Disneyland restaurant.
Cheers, A...
