Let's talk about the experience I had when visiting the weekend of September 28th for a bachelorette party, shall we?
Totally unique experience and memorable is just to start. The owner Kaye was unbelievably attentive and had our safety at the forefront of this tour - super COVID safe y'all!!!
We had some unique situations to occur before the event date and after we booked; Kaye was a phone call and text away to help ease my stress of planning and she was super accommodating.
I want to stress making sure you are on time so that you can maximum your time at each location.
We started off at our meeting location and the perfect thing about this tour is that you come first before anyone else at the rooftops; the seats are already reserved, the wait staff is super attentive immediately to place your order for food and additional drinks, and they know exactly which complimentary drinks we will be served.
I appreciate Kaye giving us heads up on which rooftop would be our 2nd stop, because we did research on what we wanted to eat and were ready as soon as we got seated to order and our food came quick!
Kaye gave us a heads up that our last stop had a dj from 7-10, which was such a treat so once the driver dropped us off, Sue gave us the history, took pics and then we closed the night out here!
Food - Capella on 9 was amazing (pizza and wings), BLT at Montford I drooled over (in fact, still am)
Drinks - ALLL of the drinks were VERY good, I would not change the selections at all!
Wait staff - Kind and again attentive, personable and gave the best service!!! Please help them out and make some additional purchases, they work hard and deserve good tips for their service.
History - Asheville seems to be my second home here lately and Sue gave us to nuggets that I loved and took back me to educate my friends on. Loved the physical touch of the laminates, a walk down memory lane
Tour guide - Sue was AH-Mazing, she wants the best for you. She will keep you on track for timing, take pics (with angles), so personable, I felt like she was family!!!
Driver - Art...We loved him. He also is a stand-up comedian and he threw a few jokes out there while transporting us. He was on time and right there as soon as we left each location!!!
At the end of the night our tour guide, Sue met back up with us (right where she left us - and brought back Kaye, because her and I had been working so hard to make this event seamless.
Suggestions to future patrons - Avoid ordering food at your first stop, take it all in, listen to the history, take pics, chill out a bit. Order food at your second or event your third stop (depending on location). Park where your last stop will be, it helped us because we closed down the bar after the tour and we didn't have to walk far)

Read moreI am surprised to see the other positive reviews, because overall, we were very disappointed. There were five of us, so we paid $450 dollars for this experience. It began at AC hotel and this first experience was terrible. We were served a disgusting sangria by an ill-tempered server. It’s was so sweet that we asked our server to bring soda water to cut the sweetness. It was also clear that everyone in our party felt this way. We ordered stuffed mushrooms, which were fine, but they were nothing special. We followed up the nasty sangria with an order of smoky cranberry margaritas with rosemary and black salt. When they came, they had no black salt, rosemary, or any smoky flavor at all. When we mentioned this, our server testily said that they were changing the menu soon and out of a lot of things. The bar itself was pretty, and the outdoor space nicely laid out, but with the place almost empty at 4, they crammed all 11 of us around one table.
Our next stop was the bar at the Hilton Garden Inn, which was very nice. It had a cool vibe, nice outdoor space, and a delicious pomegranate margarita. However, it was a tiny sample size!! We ordered food here also and it was very good, but it is important to note that no food actually comes with this tour and was all at our own expense beyond the one cocktail at each of the three stops.
The last stop was back at the meeting point, at Hemingway’s inside the Cambria hotel. When we entered, they directed us to a table INSIDE. The tour director, Ben, said “they had some changes and just don’t have room for us outside” and was clearly not going to do anything about this. This is on a tour that advertises rooftop bars and where every photo is outdoors, and the benefit of booking is ensuring space. We refused to accept this and asked the hostess if we could be seated on couches outside, which she did and the party followed. They served us a mojito, which was good, but none of us detected any rum at all. Food here was also good, particularly the tostones.
So my advice: if you have a party like ours, save your money and Uber or honestly, easily walk between rooftops. Ben was a nice enough guy, but his presentation of history was underwhelming and not engaging at all. The bars themselves were nice, but the tour just wasn’t worth it, except for the lovely participants we got to meet. We all agreed we would not recommend...
Read moreWe were a group of five friends and very excited to go on this rooftop bars tour. The bars were nice and had great views but the first one (the AC Hotel) served us a sickeningly sweet sangria that we had to water down to be able to drink. We then ordered a smoky, black salt, rosemary margarita which we thought would be better than the included drink. We thought wrong! The smokiness, black salt and rosemary were missing. When I and one other in our group decided we could not drink another bad cocktail, we asked the server to remove it from our bill. I told her the reason we sent the second drinks back were because of the lack of smokiness, black salt and rosemary. She huffily said they were out of black salt. No mention of the other ingredients at all. If it is the case that they don’t have certain ingredients, she should have mentioned that when we placed our order thus giving us the option to order it or not. The second rooftop bar was at the Hilton Garden Inn. Great views and the pomegranate margarita was delicious but way too small (sample size). My favorite was the last bar, The Hemingway at the Cambria Hotel. It also had great views and yummy food. The mojito was meh but my rum and Diet Coke was delicious. However, when we arrived they tried to seat our group inside. Some of us walked out and sat outside on the sofas and the rest of the group followed. Rooftop bar tours are a fantastic idea and Ben (tour guide) and our driver we’re very nice but this is not worth $90 per person. My advice is to walk around AVL with your friends and spend $90 on full size cocktails of...
