I've been an ABC patron since they opened in the 90s. It's an AVL standard, one of the first, locally owned, and one of my goto's more for the whole film / food / beer option vs. just the beer. In terms of beer, ABC is solid but not overly creative. They have their standards and don't seem to vary that much from them.

Early April's list has 5 IPAs (really? do we need 5?) at least 2 each of stout / porter / brown ales (i.e. - not that totally different overall as styles), 3-4 pales, a lager, nothing at all in the Belgian or German vein, and nothing in the small batch realm. I don't get that - and I don't mean they should make waffle cone cocoa-nib oolong coffee banana macadamia Belgian quads topped with strawberry whipped cream...its just a relatively standard not-so-creative list most of the time. Something like a hefeweisen, Belgian or French saison, wit, dubble/tripple/quad, a Scotch ale, or any mid to darker German lagers would be greatly welcomed.

Still - its all solid, very good beer and honestly, the brew-n-view on Merrimon is the classic. It's great for fun films for both adults & kids, though it would be nice if ABC canned the kids flicks every other weekend or something - especially in the winter - but whatever, its a minor gripe.

ABC for me is mostly about the movie / beer / food combo first & foremost, and no one else does that. The pizza, nachos & tots are comfort food classics. Overall its a cool place to hang, a local classic. If they were just a bit more creative with a 2-3 drafts in addition to the standards I've...

I hate to leave such a bad review since I've been coming here for years now. I'm normally very happy with the service and with the food. However, I went back, for the first time since COVID happened, with my husband and a friend. The wait was 45 minutes at 5 o'clock on a Saturday. They only have outdoor seating and the tables are so spread out that there's barely anywhere to sit. The 45 minute wait turned into a 60 minute wait (for only 3 people). Also, it was pouring rain and there was no dry place to stand and wait. When we finally got to sit down, we discovered that the menu was limited and didn't offer the normal options. In addition to that, you have to order at a counter, sit back down, then get back up to get your food from the pick up counter (We were expecting table service). When we picked up our pizza and appetizer from the counter, we weren't given any plates to eat our food on. My husband (with his mask on) asked (very nicely) for a couple of plates and received extremely rude service and attitude from one of the employees. Once we got our plates and ate our food, the pizza wasn't as high quality as I remember it being and we didn't really enjoy it. I've always loved coming here for the beer and tasty food, but I'm not sure I will be back after this experience, which is sad. I have enjoyed eating at several other Asheville restaurants since COVID happened and their service/friendliness/COVID policies far surpass Asheville Brewing. I would recommend going...

It is a time of covid, I completely understand. After waiting 7 minutes at the 'Hostest' stand and waiting to be seated watching about 5 people pass by me to stand in a separate line that said it was the line to order, I assumed I wasn't supposed to wait where I was waiting so followed suite. I ordered a beer and some pizzapps and sat on a nearby bench right on the edge of the tented area with tables. I was approached by and older man with longer grayish hair working there, asking if I saw a host before I sat on my bench. I explained exactly my scenario and he saod he was at capacity and told me "as soon as you get your food I am going to ask you to leave". Wow. I was so nice to him, very apologetic. Explaining no one came to explain what I was suppose to be doong. After watching several people walk past me to order I did the same and now I'm kicked out?. And so rudely so! I wont return. Not that you're losing business but that was extremely rude and should have been handled in a different way. I cant believe the poor customer service when I waited so long to be seen and then rudely kicked out. And I was alone, probably not even maxing capacity. Just wanting a beer and some pizzapps. Those were delicious by the way as I ate them walking down the sidewalk since I was kicked out. So kiddos...

Not sure why this place isn’t rated higher. It was pretty busy but they sat us much quicker than the estimated wait. The draft rosé cider was insanely good. We ordered the pimento cheese, queso and chips and the jalapeño poppers. All 3 apps were delicious. The Shear pizza was possibly the best pizza I’ve ever had. The combination of ingredients was unique and everything worked perfectly together. Our son liked the Magnum P.I.e and really enjoyed it. Although we indicated first available, we had our hearts set on the outside dining and were thrilled when they took us to our table. We are strict about not using straws or disposable cups and our server was very understanding and honored our request (which isn’t always the case). Overall it was a great experience and a good value. We’ve been back since this post and love it again. The tots and pretzel were amazing. Service was great along with the atmosphere. We will be back next time we are in town

We came by this place on a Saturday night and were craving some pizza after a long hike and day on the Blue Ridge. They had some seating available and all ordering is done at the bar (so it’s counter service). We ordered the Magic Dragon and a Margarita pizza to share along with the tot-Chos. The pizza I thought was okay but the Magic Dragon was definitely one that was different and interesting as it had pesto, curried tofu (we opted for this instead of the chicken), tomato, onion, and sweet chili sauce. The tot-Chos were pretty much Tots with queso sauce but the tots were cooked very crispy and was perfect! Overall not a bad place for a good weekend dinner in Asheville. Would not mind coming back but would try another pizza place in Asheville before returning back here.

Asheville has a ton of breweries. Of all the ones I went to, Asheville Brewing Company is by far my favorite one in terms of food. They’ve got a large menu full of pizzas, bar snacks, etc. But after seeing some of the pizzas other people got, that convinced me to get one for myself. I ordered a 16 inch meathead. It didn’t take very long to come out, the guy who took our order was cool. In the end, the pizza was absolutely amazing in every way possible. The toppings were great, the pizza itself was crazy hot too! And the crust was super crisp and delish. Overall, if you’re craving pizza while in Downtown Asheville, Asheville Brewing Company is a place you should hit up! If I come back to town, I’m definitely returning here!
