I had great experiences in all the breweries I had visited in Asheville so far during our stay so was disappointed to have that pattern broken with a poor one at Hi-Wire. I visited on 8/4 and unfortunately, they weren't offering flights, which I figured may be the case since it was a Saturday and they were likely to get busy. I was perfectly fine with this until they started serving flights to other people. When my boyfriend asked if we could do a flight, both bartenders were quite rude and dismissive with a chuckle and a "no" with no further explanation. When I tried to go ask the gentleman behind the bar why others were receiving flights and we could not, he at least tried to explain a little further - something about how he thought he was making only one flight for this group that turned into multiple flights and how long it had taken him to get this other group their flights when they were busy, yadda yadda. If the answer is no, I have no problem with that, but don't make exceptions for some and then be rude and dismissive to others who are also interested in whatever service you're very clearly providing to someone else. I would have stayed to try more beers because the two we tried were really good and I liked the option to purchase 4oz pours so we could try many, but after the very poor service, I closed our tab and we went somewhere with a much more welcoming staff (which was everywhere...
Read moreI would have given this spot 5 stars if it weren't for the poor bartender attitude and service. Went here with a group of friends around 9-9:15 (closes at 10pm) and wanted a flight as I am from out of town and wanted to try as many beers as possible. Bartender told me they did flights but would not give me one as she felt it was too proximal to closing time; it's not like everyone in our party wanted a flight. Keeping in mind, that there were only a couple people behind me. Overall had poor attitude and seemed immediately annoyed that our group came in. (we were respectful and well-behaved our whole time here).
Overall the beers were great and the selection was bountiful, just bummed that I could not sample them. Very poor...
Read moreI stopped in solo about a week or so ago, and enjoyed a few beers. I sat at the bar right inside on a Saturday afternoon, not many others around, but I definitely appreciated the chill vibe, unlike some other breweries around that were jam packed.
The gentleman behind the bar was polite and helpful with both me and other customers I observed while sitting at the bar.
I had a few of the IPAs, as well as the Koji Quad, which was outstanding and added some interesting flavor profiles to a style of beer I enjoy quite frequently.
Definitely worth a visit on your brewery tour...
