Terrible housekeeping, maintenance, upkeep of the house and customer service. The house/cabin we rented had clearly been left empty for awhile and hadn’t been rented out recently because it was covered in a layer of dust everywhere, dishes not properly cleaned, linens looking stained, carpets stained, crumbs in couch, dead bugs, thick webs all over the entire porch and outside furniture making it impossible to want to sit outside, bbq grill thick with grime and burnt on food. When we arrived and unpacked and started to notice all of this we cleaned a lot up ourselves because it was late, we still hadn’t had dinner and needed to cook something and no one was available to reach out to. So we reached out first thing the next morning, sent some pictures of items we hadn’t cleaned yet. They did offer to send the cleaning crew back out but we had already done a good portion of it ourselves the night before and we didn’t want to spend an entire day waiting around on a cleaning crew to show up. We already had unpacked and unloaded the car. We didn’t want to have to repack to make sure our belongings were safe or wait around all day for them show up and then clean, especially since we already spent the evening before doing a good chunk of it. We were only there a few days and didn’t want to lose a day because of this. I told them all of this and didn’t want to lose anymore time from our trip. They said okay and apologized but that was it. We also had an issue with the gas fireplace. We went back and forth for about a day and half trying different things they told us to do and check and nothing worked. By the time they offered someone to come out, we said don’t bother because we only had one more day left and we were leaving so it was pointless now. I asked for a partial refund due to the lack of cleanliness the house was in, especially since we provided pictures to prove we weren’t lying and making it up but because we didn’t let house keeping come out and inconvenience our trip some more it’s our fault. Even though they should have come before we had ever arrived and clearly didn’t. I would also like to point out they do not put any bad reviews on their site with important review information about the properties. I checked and ours still isn’t up and other people who may rent that house should know about the discomfort we had with the lack of privacy from all open windows with no blinds or curtains (except bedrooms). The living room, kitchen, and even the master bathroom is all open windows with no curtains or blinds for privacy. There isn’t another house right next door, but there is one down the hill and the neighbor came up the rental and told us there was someone (not us) driving up by our rental in the middle of the night and through the grass on the hill, you could see the tire tracks in the grass. This made us so uncomfortable and unsafe for the remainder of our time in this house. This house is large and did cost a lot of money, we were okay paying that because we were expecting this big fancy house and we wanted to treat ourselves for this mini vacation. Received a call around 3pm on the day of check-in saying our rental wouldn't be available due to a septic issue (we were driving 16 hours to get there - had 5 hours to go). At first we were offered a different property for the night, but only if we paid a second cleaning fee, which we refused. Why should we have to pay additional fees when the issue was not caused by us? Absurd. Since we wouldn't pay additional fees, or pay more money for a more expensive property, the offer of another property was rescinded and we were rendered homeless upon our arrival simply because Carolina Mornings management didn't feel like answering a call from THEIR OWN AGENT on a Sunday night to approve waiving the cleaning fee. How can you possibly expect me to pay a second cleaning charge for another property for the one night that YOU can't fulfill? That should've been a cost YOU, Carolina Mornings, absorbed, in the name of customer service. How dare you. Appalling. When we showed up at the property the following day after a text indicating it was finally ready, the master toilet was disgusting with the rug shoved behind it, so all the talk about waiting for the cleaning crew to come in after repairs was a joke. Truly appalled at the customer service of this company - will NEVER do business with them again. As you can see from other 1-star reviews, there are always excuses and reasons for their behavior, which I'm sure they'll reply to this post with the same drivel as well, but the fact remains we had nowhere to stay and it was not our fault. How is that customer service? You think a few passes to a local attraction fixes everything? Doesn't change the fact that we rolled into town late on a Sunday night with nowhere to stay, and no idea if or when the cabin would be ready, and no idea as to what state it would be in (odor, etc). Whatever your excuses, Carolina Mornings, you wouldn't answer your phones from YOUR OWN AGENT we dealt with because it was Sunday night and you couldn't be bothered. Had you been in our shoes, I doubt you'd have felt any differently than I did; wish you had some iota of perspective, but apparently money is all that matters to you. Whatever your reply to this review, it does not justify your infantile and unprofessional behavior. I repeat: BUYER BEWARE: If there is an issue with your property, YOU will suffer for it, NOT them. Read the other 1-star reviews - it's all the same thing over and over. Good luck dealing with this completely inept, incompetent company.
Edited to respond: Yes, you offered us two other properties for the entirety of our stay. However, neither of those properties had equal amenities of the property we booked, and one was over an hour away! How is that acceptable? Additionally, your paperwork states the cleaning crew will arrive promptly at 10am on day of checkout to clean which is why the premises must be vacated by 10am, so how was 3pm the first you learned of the septic issue? Impossible. Once again, excuses upon excuses. As expected, you think your actions solved the problem, and they absolutely did not....
Read moreWolf Ridge —Cabin Altitude Adjustment - once I had booked my rental I instantly regretted it after I read all the information from the property management company about the required check out requirements. Yes, I do typically throw in a load of laundry after my rental stay. But there was an entire list of chores that we were required to do. I also did not like that the paperwork also stated that we would be provided with one three trash bags and one tide pod to do their loads of towels/sheets & etc. The cabin had no cleaning supplies so I had to use dish soap to wipe down the counters.
Our rental was dirty! The kitchen had crumbs all over the counter. There were crumbs in the cabinets with appliances just thrown inside. There were dirty & broken dishes/glasses in the cabinets. The cabin was covered in lady bugs. We found blonde hairs within the bedding and this rental definitely not up to 5star standards. While on my own vacation I spent more time tidying up the place than I should’ve been. I attempted to send out a text but cellphone service is poor on top of the mountains. I was highly dissatisfied with my rental & I believe that it was very overpriced. The road up the mountain side is very narrow & curvy. The road is very steep and very dangerous because it is more of a one lane road. The road needs to be better maintained and widened. We were stuck heading down the mountain behind other cars that were unable to get down the icy mountain one morning (it started snowing around 7:30am). We left the cabin at 10am & started down the mountain. We waited about an hour (after 11am) until the snow plow came past and had salted the roads before we continued down the hill. Since, it was about to snow all night & we had no way of knowing how often the snow plow would be plowing the roads we decided to depart from the rental/vacation a day early. We knew check out was 10am and if we had to wait on the snow plow again it was just a gamble we couldn’t risk when we had places we needed to be that day. Management handled my dissatisfaction by letting me know that they would speak with housing keeping. Management also let me know that “ Yes, some of the things mother nature throws at us takes some time to dig out of.” All that after I had mentioned that we had to park our vehicle at the base of the mountain & walk up the mountain. But thankfully the man driving the snow plow came by when we were just about a mile up the mountain & picked all 7 of us up(including children). He also was driving up three adults that also had to park at the bottom(they had a 4wheel drive vehicle that couldn’t make it up). SMH 🤦🏽♀️ As a customer that has paid a large amount of money for a short rental I expected more from a property management company. The saying “you get what you pay for” doesn’t apply to here. I would not recommend staying here or with this management company. I am happy that my Mountain rental for next month isn’t with this property...
