Initially had a very good experience here, until the ring I had soldered by them broke. They said they could solder more of the rings together and it should hold. Got back a very sloppy job with the solder job visible in waves up near the diamonds.(Think about how as you pour a thick liquid, like cake batter, how you can see the ripples? That's what my ring looked like permanently.)
Also noticed the shanks looked liked they had been thinned for some reason? Instead of having the thickness that I took them in with, they had been thinned out. What happened to that gold?? Took it to another jeweler to get it repaired/wanted them separated since it looked so sloppy and no longer trusted this place and got a call that all three shanks (just the shanks, not the whole ring) completely melted after being touched with heat. It was later explained that the bottom half of the rings were no longer gold but were in fact made of only solder, then etched to look like three attached rings instead of one chunk of solder. They could tell based on the flame height/heat applied to the ring and how the "metal" melted.
No clue what happened to the other half of the gold in my rings, but I highly recommend that if you bring your rings here, you do not let them out of your sight. Duncan & Co and Jared's were the only ones to touch my rings (bought my rings from Jared's) and pretty sure it's not Jared's that chopped the gold off half of my three rings.
I know a lot of reviews seem like a rant from someone who had a bad experience and just write one that is way out of proportion for what happened, but this is really not the case. Feel free to go ahead and visit them. But if something goes wrong, and you might not be able to tell at first, you can't say you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been dealing with Duncan's before it was Duncan's, the name was Kimberley's. So it has been a very long time for me. I have ALLWAYS been treated with the upmost respect and have NEVER had any complaints from his work. Their prices have always been in line and I have never second guessed myself about what I have paid for something after I walked out. He has even done some small thing for me without charging me anything at all (he would say "this one is on me"). People that own their own business don't need to do things like that but he does. Every time someone asks about Duncan's or a place to buy something for their wife, I refer them to Duncan's. I never feel pressured or push when I am in the store. He is always just as laid back as the day is long. Need a GREAT deal or some really nice JEWELRY, Duncan's is the place to go. I will continue to shop there and to get all of my repairs done there. Prices and Personality sells!! There are a lot of places in Athens, Ga. that could take some lessons from Kim and Dale!! You...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was walking in on 11/29 (Black Friday) around 3 pm. Their had been an accident in front of the store and it looked like the people pulled their cars out of the road in front of the store. I see this woman storming out of the store (who I was told was an owner, the woman with glasses and a scar on her neck)! I see her walk over to the younger lady that was involved in the accident speaking her VERY RUDELY! I was appalled that anyone would have that reaction to an accident! I get the young woman was crying and upset but she did not need to storm out and yell at her about causing a scene nor did she need to make the comment that she was 22 acting 2. Had this been my daughter I would have had an even bigger issue with it. I only wish that I would have said something to her that day. I can say this however; if this is how she treats people she has never met, I am really glad I did not spend any of my money in this establishment and I will just go to Spencer's Jewlers from now on. At least there they do not treat...
