Okay, so everything BUT the haircut here was amazing. Let me explain. I’ll give the pros and cons:
Pros: • Guy at the front was super welcoming and nice • The shop itself was very luxurious and nice • The barber was also friendly • All the extras were nice. Like the hot towel while I got my hair shampooed. That was very relaxing.
Cons: • Worst haircut I’ve had in recent memory (my hairstyle isn’t the most traditional, so your mileage may vary) • Their tipping prompt when you pay is kind of shady (I’ll explain below)
So, all the extras were great. My problem really lies with the haircut. There were a few things that went wrong… I don’t know if there was a miscommunication or what, but I asked to not have the sides blended with the top of my hair, and had to stop the barber, because they were doing exactly what I asked them not to. On top of that, the clippers they were using clearly needed service or replacing. They were LOUD, and when I got home, I noticed that there were little hairs all over the sides of my head that didn’t get properly buzzed. The worst part though, was the top of my haircut… Attached is a couple pictures showing how sloppy the cut was. Not sure how or why, but the front of my hair ended up cut short in the center, but long on the sides? No idea what they were going for, but that was definitely not how I wanted it cut.
In my haste to get out of there, I did notice that their minimum tip amount shown on the register when I paid was $12 for a $38 cut. That’s about 30%… MINIMUM. I think they know if they put percentages on the screen like people are used to, they’d freak at a starting tip of 30%. I absolutely believe in tipping people who provide services, but making the minimum suggestion on the register 30% is a bit ridiculous.
TLDR: If you have a fairly common men’s hairstyle, aren’t too picky, and want to be pampered, Scissors & Scotch is probably amazing. If you have a specific thing you’re going for, are pickier about your hairstyle, and don’t care about the extra pampering, I’d recommend going...
Read moreYesterday I was in a panic to get my grey hair covered up before a certain time. I called a few places to no luck. So I googled salons in my area and Scissors & Scotch, came up on a List and I called, when the person answered the phone a. T Burn and &listened to what I was looking for and said yes we do just that, she then explained right down to the finishing results, that suits what I was looking for. I booked an appointment immediately and went over, when I arrived, I was greeted with a warm friendly welcome. took But when the stylist came to greet me (Ms. Chaka Love ❤️ took me back for my appointment, I really felt I had chosen the right place, Scissors & Scotch. Her approach, smile and amazingly professional friendly personality was very refreshing and comforting. We engaged in great conversation, that went to debates and family oriented dialogs. Her services was perfectly on point and I left very very satisfied, not before I requested additional services of a facial. Man it was super awesome to feel that warm towel on my face. I enjoyed my entire time in the establishment, it was clean, freshly smelling and very comfortable to be in. Before I left, I received my complimentary drink and then I booked my return appointment. Can’t wait to experience this wonderful services agin. Scissors & Scotch Is a very great place to visit...
Read moreI recently got a haricut and realized after a few days that the cut was uneven (photos attached). Unfortunately, due to a busy schedule, I didn't get around to calling in for almost 2 weeks. When I asked if they could fix it, they told me they have a 48-hour limit on free "upkeep," and it would cost $28 to clean it up. Let's be clear, this isn't upkeep. My hair didn't grow like this. It's a mistake that I'm asking them to fix.
I have been going to this location for about a year and a half, and I have never needed to go back to get anything fixed before. I don't mind paying their prices because of great atmosphere and service, and I always tip at least 20%. I drive 30 min because I like it that much.
This isn't about the barber who handled my cut. He's done a great job every other time. Everybody makes mistakes, so I'm not really upset about it. The issue is that they want me to pay $28 dollars to fix a problem they caused. This is a quick fix. If not for my positive previous experiences, this would be a 1-star review. I hope they reconsider this policy.
EDIT: Chris, my hair did not grow significantly in 2 weeks. If you look at the pictures, you can clearly see that this is just a quick, scissor touch up. I appreciate you offering me a discount, but I'm not interested in waiting until my hair has actually grown enough to...
