Iām really disappointed in this location, especially because I recently moved to midtown and this is the closet & most convenient OTF for me. I donāt know if this location overbooked the 17:45 June 1st session or let a guest in w/o first confirming their reservation - however I had to cut my (reserved) session short. Iāve been a member at OTF since 2015 and Iāve never had this happen before.
Per my physical therapist I have to take it easy on my right knee for a bit, so I bike instead of run - Iāve done so since 2021. I make this clear every time that I use the bike in place of the treadmill. At this particular location, I was placed on treadmill one for the first part of 2G. The individual at the front desk said he understood that although heād technically be placing me on tread one Iād be on the bike instead (so as to not put anyone else on tread one). Ten minutes into the workout I realized he mistakenly put someone on treadmill one - which I thought might not be a problem because I would just go to an open station. I looked up and realized that not only was every treadmill station occupied, every rower/floor station was as well.
So after confirming w/ the instructor if every station was in fact full, I asked where am I supposed to go/what am I supposed to do once the room switches? To which his response was āoh well why are you on the bike?ā Which caught me entirely off guard: (1) the bike and alternative machines are available for guests, like myself, with orthopedic issuesā¦.itās why they are there; (2) it felt like a āwell itās a you problem nowā type of response. After I explained I use the bike instead of the treadmill because of my knee, I asked again what I should do once the room switches. He simply said āYeah, Iām not sureā and continued on w/ class.
After that I stopped biking to confirm w/ the individual at the front desk to see he in fact put me in first station. Wanted to make sure I didnāt mishear the station number and placement. He confirmed he did but then also realized that every station was booked, leaving me with no where to go after the first half. He apologized for that, and I went to finish out the first half. Before the first half ended though, the instructor came back to tell me that treadmill 13 opened up (the guest went to come bike half way through the first half) and I could go there if I wanted. Completely missing the point and made clear that he was not listening to me in the first place and still would not have fixed the overarching issue - I would not have a spot on the rower or floor for the second half of 2G.
It was apparent that the instructor, especially, could care less. So, with no other option but to possibly stay on the bike for the second half, I left. I also left because there are only 2 bikes, and there may very well have been other guests who needed to use the bike in lieu of the treadmill. I donāt pay OTF just to spin for 60 minutes. Iād go to a spin class if that was my goal.
I called again today to speak to a manager, who was not available. Whoever I did speak said theyāve never overbooked before and they arenāt sure what happened but theyāre sorry. So, I hope yesterday wasnāt intentional, since something like this āneverā happensā¦
So, one of my reserved OTF class wasted by NO fault of my own and basically got a āIām not sure what you want me to do about itā type of response. Which all in all, Iām more so just disappointed in the poor customer service - especially from...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOTF West Midtown Atlanta is hands down the best studio in ATL. I started visiting several of the studios in metro Atlanta the summer of 2020. I had become displeased with my local studio, had planned to cancel my OTF membership and had set up a Peloton to arrive after I returned from vacation. In the meantime, I needed to keep working out consistently in preparation for my vacation, so I started frequenting various studios throughout metro Atlanta that were enroute between work and home. I work south past the city and live in Cobb county north of Atlanta, so that gave me lots of options. I discovered that I really enjoyed the energy, the great playlists, the broad diversity of members and instructors at many of studios I was visiting (I was not going to be forced to give up OTF!). My workout experience is very much driven by the playlist. I found that a few instructors stood out. They consistently had great playlists and positive energy (I mean ALL the time). Unique was one of those instructors. I started going to her class at Howell Mill anytime I could and when I found out she would be the Head Coach at the new West Midtown studio, I could not wait to check it out. I was blown away!! Yes, the studio was new and gorgeous, but it is the personnel that really shine. I have been going there since the doors opened. YES, I drive 40 minutes from my house (EVERY Saturday and Sunday and sometimes through the week) to get there when there is an OTF studio 5 minutes away and 15 minutes away!! And this is why- the front desk/sales staff are outstanding. They are professional, warm, friendly, and go above and beyond to be helpful and accommodating- ALL of them with no exceptions. The coaches are amazing. I went there expecting Unique to be my favorite (because she is a BOSS), but they are all equally fire. Shout out to Andrew and Emel!! I know that Iām going to get high, positive energy and a banging playlist every time partnered with constant attention to form and technique. To be clear, I go for the gains and if itās fun (great music!) and Iām getting great coaching the gains are going to come because Iām literally trying to go whenever I can. But the thing that really sets OTF West Midtown apart is the community they have created. A community that celebrates not only PRās, but birthdays, graduations, wedding engagements, Pride, Latin History Month, Black History Month, etc. It is a community where everyone is seen and celebrated so when there are member socials and 90-minute classes they are packed and lit. We show up to be together, but we also show up to support OTF West Midtown. They...
