Iāve been getting my nails done consistently for five years, and acrylic overlays w/ gel have been my go-to for the last three. Iām not new to this. Iāve worn my nails long and short depending on my lifestyle, and I go in for maintenance every month. I know my nails, I know the difference between a proper fill and a full set, and I absolutely know when a nail tech is trying to upsell services I donāt need.
This salon is not only overpriced for the quality, but the tech I worked with was dishonest, dismissive, and consistently tried to gaslight me instead of delivering quality service.
I came in for a fill-in on a set I got done only a month ago at a different salon. My right thumb had a crack, so I needed that fixed in addition to the regular fill. The tech immediately tried to convince me that I needed to cut my nail all the way down and apply a tip. I told him he could glue the crack and apply acrylic over it. He resisted at first, but thatās exactly what he ended up doing proving it was possible all along.
Then, the same day, one of my nails chipped. Not the cracked oneā¦..another one entirely. I had to return the very next day to get it repaired. Instead of owning up to poor work, the tech told me I needed a full set and claimed he ātold me that yesterday.ā That conversation never happened. I made it very clear that I had just received a full set a month ago and only needed a fill.
He then tried to argue that the sides of my nails were lifting because of āoutgrowthā and said covering them with acrylic would mean I needed a full set. Thatās incorrect. A proper fill includes sealing all growth and ensuring the nail is fully reinforced. The real issue is he didnāt apply acrylic properly to the sides during the initial service, which is why the nail chipped in the first place. That has nothing to do with how my nails grow and everything to do with his application.
He also made several comments about the shape of my natural nails claiming they grow downward and that causes problems for acrylic. Also stating that I needed to cut all of my nails down and put tips on it with a full set. Iāve been growing my nails this way for years and never had an issue at other salons. This wasnāt about my nails; this was about him trying to push a more expensive service I didnāt need.
During my gel pedicure, I also had a chip on my left big toe. I asked my pedicurist to keep as much length as possible but clean it up so it was even. H the manicurists insisted that it needed to be cut all the way down and even said I needed acrylic on it. Again, not true. I get monthly gel pedicures and my toenail was still fully intact. There was no reason to apply acrylic or cut it down more than necessary. It was just another attempt to upsell me. (The pedicurist was a sweetheart though and very nice. I wish I got his name.)
This experience made it clear that the tech does not value experienced clients or honest service. He consistently tried to upsell and misinform me, even when it was obvious that I knew exactly what I needed. The quality of the work was poor, the professionalism was lacking, and there was absolutely no accountability for a nail chipping the same day I got it done. On top of that, I was originally quoted an extra $55 for a design that includes no ombrƩ or rhinestones which was brought down to $40 because of my nail length.
Iāll be attaching photos of: ⢠My natural nail growth with acrylic overlays done at other salons where I was never told I have to cut my nails down and put tips on it. (First two) ⢠The nail art that was quoted to be an extra $55 that I paid $40 for and chipped less than 12 hours after the service
I donāt leave reviews often, but Iām sharing this so others donāt waste their time or money. If youāre a client who knows your nails and wants respectful, skilled service this is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis location is new and its beautiful inside. I went for a polish change and Thory did my nails, she did an amazing job. She was so kind, patient, and meticulous with her work.
However, I also went for an eyebrow waxing. This was not a good experience. The room was dirty, unorganized, and unsanitary. The woman, (leaving out her name), did not wear a mask and came in the room coughing without covering her mouth. I had to ask her to sanitize her hands before touching my face. She was reaching out to touch me without washing or sanitizing. She did wash her hands after I asked.
The floor was dirty, there is a dirty blanket for customers to lie on, the trash can is sitting on the table full of old wax strips (like so full that the trash bin can not close).
The tech does not wear a mask while hovering over your face. Maybe the customer should wear a mask if this is something you care about.
My eyebrow wax job was extremely rushed and sloppy. There were dozens of small hairs that were not touched. When I asked her to fix them, she said the hairs were too short to wax or tweeze. Assuming that they are supposed to be professionals, I wouldnāt expect to hear this, nor have I heard it before. Or, at the very least, I would expect the tech to TRY and address my concerns. She refused to fix my eyebrows and proceeded to motion me to get up from the table and to charge me $12 for eyebrows that are only 80% done. You can look at the picture and clearly see there are extraneous hairs. My eyebrows do not look like they were just waxed, I will have to go home and tweeze them some more.
The receptionist or manager/supervisor did not follow up to see what the problem was or to try and find a solution. They asked me how everything went and I told them I just liked my nails and I would only be tipping the nail tech. They spoke to each other in their language but no one followed up to remedy the situation.
I just paid and left, I did not want to cause a scene.
I would definitely come back to have Ms. Thory do my nails and because the facility overall is very nice. I was seen right away with no appointment during the day on a Wednesday which was also great. However, they also didnāt offer me water or a complimentary beverage which most luxury salons typically do these days.
Hopefully management reviews this post and speaks with the eyebrow tech about her professionalism and the quality of her work, as well as the receptionist about professionalism, hospitality, and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI want to start by agreeing the atmosphere is lovely. I called asking if walk ins were acceptable and they said yes.
Initially I came for just a pedicure. But as I sat receiving one, I decided to get a full set as well since it's been a few months since I've last chosen to get this service. Wind, did a good job on my toes but I'm not sure what package I should have asked for to get my heels smoother. My heels are still cracked š« from the signature package.
When I let him know I wanted a full set he called Jane over. She signed and threw her head back as if she didn't want to. It could've been due to her possibly working on someone else. I get it was a last minute change, but I'm spending more money which is beneficial for the business š¤ She made it a point to inform me I only signed up for pedicure in which I said yes but I changed my mind. I kept a smile during the whole thing, but I was uncomfortable. She didn't even inform me cuticle care was not included in this full set. I am accustomed to it being so elsewhere. When Wind confirms the price of service with her, he gives me the ticket. But upon her drying my nails she added an extra five for the nails. Confusing but OK. I was told it would be $51 because I was getting them short. She didn't care to make under the nail smooth and neat. She didn't verify what type of full set, so as of 6hrs later, my paint is already chipping. I should have went with my first mind and stuck with the pedicure. Her energy made my experience not the best. I felt unwelcome in a sense. Don't know if I would...
