ย ย ย Read moreThe Atlantic City boardwalk is famous. Iโm a local, so I have been going there since I was a little girl. I think in the past, it was really something. Before my time, I see pictures where the boardwalk and attractions are completely packed. I know steel pier was open with many hotels and stores. The boardwalk was OK when I was growing up and well into my adult years. It seems like after the year 2010, the boardwalk started going downhill. It was deserted and the attractions were not good. Even Steel pier, which has been open a long time. The boardwalk was practically empty, and it was full of vagrants and panhandlers. Thank God, Atlantic City and a lot of other departments and people did a renewal of the boardwalk. Steel pier is back to its glory with cool rides, waterslides, food, and beverage and games. Shops are numerous and open again. Thereโs even some outdoor and covered outside bars. Itโs nice that you can drink alcohol somewhere other than the casino. You can walk into a lot of casinos and gamble, dine, or just have a look around. The City has placed wood beach chairs and some sculptures on the boardwalk. Thereโs access to the cities free and wide beaches. Either a walkway going down to the dunes and beach, or easy steps you can get down. Even on some limited streets, thereโs access to water in order to wash the sand off your feet. The Atlantic City Boardwalk has come back baby! Letโs all keep...

I wanted to drive ti AC since I could see it from OC point and it looked very lively all lit up. 18 miles later we got there at 10:30 pm and decided to turn around. Gaggles of guys hanging on corners, one man was carrying a mattress on his head through the streets. A lot of patrol cars and fault me if you want, I did not think this crowd was safe. Women and children were not obvious nor to be found. It did not feel safe to park my car anywhere outside. A road rager started honking at us in bumper to bumper traffic only to dodge around us on to the next guy for several blocks they were aggressive against other drivers as well. I was born and raised in the Philadelphia area and I know what a bad scene looks like. No way I was risking for this hot mess. Maybe the boardwalk was great. Maybe the parking was safe. Maybe the crowds weren't......... We went back to OC and walked the beach until midnight. Cant say if I will return though fron a short distance it looks very nice at night. Within 5 miles of leaving AC the town just was chill. Im an older man with kids and I dont have time to explore this level of unchill for a picture or two. The last time I was in AC was 1990 for a honeymoon at Trumps new casino. It aint that no more. Safety means so much more to me than adventure. Take your risks as you...
