Honestly I’m not one to complain been coming to AC for years usually stay at the casinos but I brought my kids along so I thought it would be better not to stay at a casino.. boy was i wrong.. I was more than prepared to deal a never ending aroma of urine and weed some dirt and grime loudness and there to be homeless people OUTSIDE the hotel, slow elevators this is AC, but I never expected to pay what we paid to be put in a room where basic NECESSITIES didn’t work, cockroaches greeted me (German ones not water bugs), and less than par customer service. Had our check in experience been a little more pleasant I wouldn’t feel as bad about the stay but even that was terrible. When we checked in Monday 2nd shift front desk was less than enthusiastic it was like I inconvenienced them by having to check in and inconvenienced them even more when asking where the parking was since valet was unavailable. We had 4 people in our room but there was only 3 towels 1 washcloth 1 hand towel and HALF a roll of toilet paper left for us. Did not see any housekeeping on Tuesday so I had to go the whole way down to the front desk to ASK for towels and toilet paper as there were no instructions on the phone or anywhere in the room on how to call to the front desk. It took about 4 hours for someone to bring us 2 towels and toilet paper. I found a dead cockroach in my room when we first checked in. I searched the room and saw 1 baby one that was alive i tried to catch it to report it but it got away. I had to run to dollar general to buy plastic bags and trash bags to keep our belongings/food sealed in. I also bought cleaning supplies to clean that filthy room and hopefully deter the cockroaches from coming back into our room. The room was filthy food stains all over the walls, the mattress was stained, there is a thick layer of dust built up all along where the carpet meets the walls, mini fridge was dirty. Beds only had flat sheets no fitted sheets hair on the mattress pad & one mattress was not incased Under the sink and on the pipes filled with dust. Vents filled with dust. Surprisingly the curtains were clean they must have been changed recently. I dropped a bottle of vitamins behind the TV stand and when i looked back there to get it I decided to leave it as the conditions behind the TV were deplorable!! Looked like 20 years of dust built up and there was a dirty diaper, empty alcohol bottles, food oh dont leave trash outside your room no one will ever come get it We were walking all our trash to the trashcan by the elevators because again cockroaches. There was also half a cookie on the hallway floor for 2 days before the hallway was cleaned. The AC in our room barely functioned the whole stay and then stopped working Wednesday night, our room was 80 degrees by Thursday morning. Maintenance came said they couldn’t fix it. He did offer to move us but i was not about to clean another room in that hotel so we just stayed and dealt with an 80 degree room until we checked out on Friday. The shower would not drain it blew water out at one point while my daughter was showering. The sink also had periodic spurts where it would not drain. Toilet seat kept sliding to the side. Pool was cloudy, small. They allow homeless persons to sleep on the cabana chairs in the pool area there were 3 when we went to the pool sleeping soundly with alcohol around them. Went to the 20s restaurant for breakfast with just my 4 year old and it was the worst service EVER only 1 staff spoke english enough to order and he was working behind the bar. We waited 45min for 2 eggs, toast, bacon, and a side of bacon only for them to NOT make my son’s food which he never got. I had to call my husband to come to the restaurant and chase down the waiter to get my change. The waiter had put my change in his wallet and this man had to take it out of his wallet to give it back after begging my husband to keep my change. Oh and security there is weak my husband got some free entertainment Thursday night when he watched someone grip up a security guard in...
Read moreDo yourself a favor and stay somewhere else; save yourself the aggravation! The 1st room we were in, the bathroom had black mold & was incredibly damp. We were moved into a 2nd room which looked like a body was under the sheets & the foot section was much higher than the head, not good for acid reflux. The 3rd room we were put in did not have hot water for 2 of the 4 days I showered there. Check out day, I showered at home to not have to deal w/ it. The refrigerator was broken, maintenence never fixed it; we complained twice and no response. We requested fresh sheets immediately after hearing the woman next to us at front desk complain her sheets were never changed after prior guest checked out & she turned in his driver's license which she found in the bed sheets...So disgusting! Check in took 3 hours. Hairs were in the bathroom on floor & counter. Toilet was not cleaned properly. They had a pipe break from what Ive read on reviews so they painted the ceiling on 18th floor to hide the water stains and mold. We were lied to about the parking, were told $25 per stay per car NOT per day. We had 2 cars and we over charged $106.64 per car to park. Complaints on all issues fell on deaf ears. We were told their Reservations I had to delete the rest to make room for the Reply. When I have time ill come back & refill what I can. Namaste. **Response to "Owner's Reply" 9/19/2025 You "talk a good talk" but after reading prior reviews I dont see where the Claridge is "walking the walk", nor has it changed a bit. I am quite certain I was not the 1st person to complain about the black mold and high humidity in the bathroom on the 14th floor. I know for sure, I am not the 1st person to complain about the bed on the 20th floor either. I showed the front desk pictures of the bed. I said, "Would you want to pay close to $1,000 to sleep in that bed?" I was there in A/C for a 4 day seminar, 11 hours each day; I needed decent sleep. I was then told I could be moved, but this was the last time! Really? Oh so now for close to $1,000, I get to empty, dump and refill my cooler with the food I brought with me & refresh the ice twice a day, because you ignored me reporting to you on more than one occassion, that the refrigerator was not cold enough. I turned it up as high as it would go and even while empty, it did not have the proper temperature. The bonus was for $1,000 I got to take two cold showers, without hot water. Your apology is a little to little, a little too late. Your general manager and the reservations department should have, back in August, responded to my email. And your front desk manager, Jenn, should have addressed the parking issue when I brought it to her attention during the 3 HOUR CHECK-IN process. I was told she could not help me without the name of the Rep who booked my reservation. I not only provided the name of the Rep "Athini" but also provided the date of the call, but the time of the call the length of the call too! And nothing, like I was not worthy of a response. I said pull the tape and listen to the web of falsities the Claridge hides behind. It's a lot harder to gain a new customer/hotel guest than it is to keep one. My review is not the only one given mis-information about parking. Then the Claridge hides behind the veil of, "Its an outside company and they're out of state". Train your people to tell the TRUTH. Please know if you had a bad experience at the Claridge and if the circumstances warrant, you have the right to write a review on social media. I emplore you to do so. You sharing your experience could save others their hard earned money only to be met by stress, aggravation and trauma. Who wants to wake up in the middle of the night with bed bug bites, as a few people reported that Ive read about have, ugh. And if you take a bed bug hitch hiker home with that's expecting.... you are in for a long and costly ride,...

HOWEVER, I am motivated to help people avoid the biggest disappointment in Atlantic City.
I splurged for the King Whirlpool room and paid $1,000 for two nights. I expected a special experience in a classically romantic setting.
To get to the hotel, you pass by the bus station which is surrounded by the very much less fortunate. Yet when you turn onto the lane which leads under an overpass to the Claridge check-in, it looks much the same. Dark, dirty and disorganized. The building and environment simply looked tired and sadly of a once proud brand that has fallen down completely.
Upon arrival at the valet station with our vehicle, the bell hop / Valet attendant could not break a $50 bill. We were directed to the front desk, the lobby store and finally the floor manager on duty. The best she could offer was to walk across the street to Bally's casino, b/c that is what she does. Huh?
Front desk was professional and friendly. The only highlight.
There are 5 elevators, only 2 work. On a busy afternoon, the frustration level of the patrons was such that they needed security to act as traffic directors, into and out of the elevators in the lobby.
Entering our room, we were immediately filled with dread. Lamps were unplugged. Light fixtures outside the bathroom did not work. Every door to a cabinet was crooked and hanging loosely. The ceiling in the shower had large flakes of paint dangling low above your head. The whirlpool jets did not work. The walls were dirty and signs of old, ill painted spackle were evident everywhere. The room was $500 a night!!
Ice and vending machines were only filled on the 8th floor, by admission of the front desk staff. Again, very professional and I feel for them. But they admitted, only the 8th floor machines get any attention. Go figure. And though the vending machine may have been stocked, it would neither take our cash nor credit card, so there was no way to pay to get anything out of the machine. The ice machine worked, so we had a bucket full of melted ice.
It then took 15 minutes to get an elevator back to our floor, again bc only 2 of 5 worked and everyone was full as they stopped on the floor. I would have gladly taken the stairs but there were none to be found. That may be a fire hazard.
This is not the case of continuing improvement being needed with some tweaking to be ironed out. The hotel is a bait and switch scam, tempting you with a mixture of old world nostalgia and luxury only to serve up dilapidation in a seedy environment.
Stay away. Go to the Hard Rock. Go to Oceans. Go anywhere else. Don't go here.
New comments after Owner Response:
Dear Owner -
I've spent some time reviewing previous reviews by other patrons going back over a year. Precisely the same troubling issues which I wrote about are commented on by others.
Your response is polite and well crafted, but it too is a bait and switch. If you actually meant anything you wrote then these problems would have been fixed a long time ago.
We cannot "rest assured" that your "sharing" these issues and making your staff "aware" will bring about any movement to a final resolution.
Simple question: Do you have a timeline, for example, of when you will have 5 out of 5 elevators working? I bet you don't and won't commit to giving one.
Your building requires deep capital investment. Even the best intentioned staff will not solve the mechanical and operational issues at the Claridge.
Sell the building to...
