Worst experience I have ever had at a place that is meant to cater to young customers. I bought the tickets for my family in advance. The trip was a vacation catered to the likes of my oldest son (6 yo). There was no wait to get in at our scheduled time and the lady was personable and exactly what I would have expected at a place such as Legoland. We made our way to the train ride and that's where our experience went straight downhill, fast. I was asked if my 6 month old could walk before we entered the non-existent line for the train. When I responded with a sound "no", I was advised he could not ride the train. I still don't understand why he could not RIDE a train because he couldn't walk, but I believe this is because of possible jarring within the ride. My husband and older son rode the ride and enjoyed themselves. When the ride was over my family made their way through the set-up to the 4D Theater. There, we were met by Ive and a whilwind experience of negativity. She berated me to the point that I left the theater. She very obviously believed that my 6 month old son should not be there and was exteremly passive agressive about it for over 10 minutes both outside of the theater before the movie and when I entered. Even pointing out as I was exiting the theater to "I don't want to stop you from you doing you". After I left, I went to the little cafe section to sit down and breastfeed my son. There was no one else in the area and it was quiet for a few minutes until a group of workers came to clean up. I was laughed at and pointed at by the clergy of male workers that came to sweep the area and put the chairs on top of the table. This was an hour prior to closing. To be clear, I have NEVER had an experience like this when feeding any of my children. I was using a cover and nothing was visible for others to gape at. There is no excuse possible for this behavior.
When my husband and son were done watching the 12 minute movie and exited, we ventured over to the playground area. Other children in the area were getting loud, as would be expected at a playground area and nothing that I found particularly concerning. However, Ive apparently did as she came out and yelled at the children that were laughing loudly. I pulled my son from the area and steered him to the Virtual Reality section before I encountered another unpleasant experience with Ive. At the same time that I was asking for assistance in getting the VR experience set-up for my son, my younger son proceeded to spit up a bit on the floor. Before my husband and I could handle the situation, Ive was right there pointing at the floor and asking "Did your little one just make a mess?". When we advised yes he had and we were looking for some assistance while my husband was looking for a place to get some napkins, Ive stated "The napkins are by the cash register and I can get you a mop to speed this up". We are certainly going to handle the spit up (NOT vomit), but didn't need the downturned outlook from Ive on top of everything.
When we left, I asked to speak with the general manager. Unfortunately, Hailey had already left for the day. I've filled out Legoland's customer satisfaction survey, called and left messages for Hailey, and have now completed this review.
In a nutshell, I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. But, especially those with young children in their family, I would warn you to stay away. I left feeling humiliated over my experience, like I inconvenienced a large chunk of their employees by being there with a young child and will subsequently never return to Legoland. Management should be more closely monitoring their employees actions and follow-up on requests or complaints. I wish someone had warned me to beware...
Read moreSchool trip chaperone: Please note that I did not pay full-price for tickets, and supervised five second graders during our trip.
I paid $13 for myself and $13 for my 7 year-old to attend this school field trip.
Legoland is inside of an indoor mall, but has its own bathrooms. The legoland bathrooms are quite fun. Each stall has a picture of lego characters on it. I got photos of each stall in the women's bathroom. Inside the bathroom, there are sounds playing. Within the bathroom 'soundtrack', there are construction sounds, farting sounds, and various other bathroom noises. The boys and girls in my group enjoyed it and laughed.
There were two rides. We went on the Kingdom Quest ride. Laser guns were used to 'blow up' bad guys and 'rescue the princess'. Someone in our group had a gun malfunction, so she was pretty bummed.
The city area had a 'metro airport' and 'downtown detroit' built out of legos. This was awesome, and definitely worth a look. There is a day/night cycle. Buildings light up at night and there are images of fireworks. Various lego figures are scattered throughout the display. Some things are interactive, like 'pitching' and 'hitting' a ball in tiger stadium.
There was a playground area that the kids enjoyed, and it gave me a bit of a breather.
There's a food vendor and places to eat. There is a very nice, spacious, and comfortable lactation room that I had to escort the second-graders out of.
There are stations to build and test buildings against earthquakes. There is a racing station. The kids quickly figured out that the tires are fastest by themselves.
There's duplo, underwater exhibit, and some 'lego friends' attractions. There was a 15 minute video that my 5 kids didn't want to see, so we skipped it.
I was a little disappointed there wasn't a better ninjago display, a space display, or lego super heroes. Lego Batman on top of the Renn Center would have been epic.
The best way to enjoy this would either be on a school field trip, or just one child and one adult. This would minimize price and maximize the flexibility of the group. Plan to spend 2-5 hours here to get your...
Read moreOk, parents, this place is really for your kids and it's freaking pricey but if you do your searching of online coupons, it's was surprisingly worth it. I have two boys one is 10 the other is a 4yr old so finding something they would both enjoy together has been a challenge! Two rides, dragon Quest which is a shooting game and wizard one where you have to peddle to keep going up which was a mini workout. Then between that was the mini land which shows all of Detroit and the boats actually move and there it's buttons for certain figure that will move. My boys really love the play place, which had a cop, fire station and construction theme. There is free WiFi and nursing station in a room right by it so parents can rest. Next to that was the 4d movies which the characters are going under a waterfall, mist will spray on you and if wind is blowing you will feel it, it's kinda cool and they give you glasses but you have to but they back after you are done with them. Then there is make your own car station which seemed like it was all the fathers were living there childhood here, station, which has a two parts one was two run ways hills and the other one was like steep runway, lots of Legos sections to try to make the perfect race car. Then next to it was girls section and then lego for the toddlers which has a mini play place farm house. The is a workstation where you get to see the perfessional, then next to it was mini food place where you get some grub, we just ordered drinks and I needed a much coffee! So would I come back?? Of course, just look for coupons, my children loved it and see them happy and not fighting or playing video games is a plus and the employee that work there were nice, the place is super clean. Next bring my own coffee for a small it was 2.50. Also try to skip lego store, crazy, order that...
