The Hummus and Pita Co. (INSIDE GREAT LAKES CROSSING OUTLET) — Restaurant in Auburn Hills

Update: the store manager reached out to me and was professional and humble enough to apologize for the bad experience. This shows their commitment for service and I'm happy to hear back from them.

Looking at other reviews I was really excited to try this place. Unfortunately my experience was really bad for below reasons:

I ordered online at around ~5:30pm for a 6:30pm pick up on Fri. When I reached, they said order is not ready because they thought we won't come to pick up (order was paid for already) and I'm not sure why they'd think that. We had to then wait in line for another 10 min for worse to come.

They used the online order receipt to prepare our bowl, everything they did was almost incorrect. We didn't order grilled veggies in our bowl since we don't like squash and zucchini, yet they added that instead of quinoa salad we asked for. We asked for feta cheese but there wasn't any in the bowl.

Every container was near empty at the store since it was almost closing time and they had to rush out, we basically just got left overs in our order, that too, all wrong.

I ordered whole pita and got the wrong one again. Everything was just not right.

If the owner is reading this, I request you to attend your employees closely, there seems to be lack of ownership and accountability. (May be it was Friday evening and they wanted to get out?)

I tried to look up for order number in the email receipt but there's none for me to refer here.

Okay, the smell was so amazing I forgot to grab a photo until I already started eating, but if you've eaten here, do you really blame me? 😅

This was my first time trying Hummus & Pita Co. My partner used to eat here regularly when he was working security for a couple stores at the beginning of Covid, and he would rant and rave about how delicious everything was. We'd come to the mall today to get out of the house, and by dinnertime realized it was easier to get a bite where we were than drive all the way home. He immediately got in line for here, and since I couldn't decide what I wanted, I figured it was worth trying. Never had shawarma in my life, or most of the options, so I asked the kind gentleman working the counter what he thought was good. Shawarma, sun dried tomato hummus, mediterranean salad and rice, spicy garlic paste, and feta cheese, stuffed into a delicious pita.

OH MY GOD IT WAS AMAZING!

I may have eaten more than I ought to have, and had leftovers that are now in my fridge for lunch tomorrow, but I will 100% tell you that passing up on this place will be the WORST decision you could ever make. Hands down, cannot recommend...

VEGAN REVIEW TIME EXPRESS:

Alright, so you’re saying 5 stars? In a food court? Okay, calm down, we’re grading on a curve.

This place labels all their stuff nice and big so I know what’s vegan. It’s crazy that other places can’t do this but this place DOES. That’s like five stars all in itself. I got the vegan shawarma pita with sun dried tomato hummus with purple cabbage, spiced onions, and spicy harissa. This was a BIG STUFFED PITA. Definitely enough for a meal, I’m glad I didn’t get fries too. It was pretty alright!

The ladies making the food were very nice and engaging. I saw them taking time and explaining everything very patiently to everyone. ANGELS. The dude behind the register was alright but I guess kinda vacant? Whatever, it’s work, can’t be smiling all the time.
