I’ve always enjoyed treating myself to Cava at the Domain after a busy day, but today’s experience was deeply disappointing and concerning.
An employee, a taller gentleman wearing a bandana, made the visit extremely unpleasant. His behavior was rude, unprofessional, and even threatening. I witnessed him slam a customer’s bowl, roll his eyes, and condescendingly say, “You might not want to question me when I’m the one making your food,” before walking off. When the customer asked for his name, he ignored her entirely. This behavior left me and others uncomfortable—should customers have to worry about being treated this way when simply ordering food?
The manager on duty handled the situation professionally, but the employee’s response was shocking. He insulted the manager, used racial slurs multiple times in front of staff and customers, and even made homophobic remarks. As a parent of someone in the LGBTQ+ community, I found this behavior deeply offensive and unacceptable. I’ve never experienced anything like this at Cava before, and I’m appalled that someone with such a mean-spirited attitude is allowed to represent the brand.
I’ve encountered this employee before, and his demeanor has always been unpleasant. Outside of this individual, the rest of the staff has always been wonderful and professional. Read moreExcellent customer service and food! This is a great location to dine at for a tasty, healthy meal. Looking back, I realize the people at this location made this a memorable trip and we werent there at a busy time. Taylor helped me and my friends as soon we arrived. He was very patient. I had only been to Cava twice and for my friends it was there first time. I say he was patient because I came to location shortly after it openned cuz I work across the street and the person waiting on me at that time was not helpful or friendly. This time service was excellent! Taylor let us sample flavors for a better bowl base. He explained our base options and how they could be combined. As we went down the line sampling, everything was perfectly seasoned and fresh. In some cases it was hard to choose. Then when we got to the cashier, Jenny was very customer service focused! My friends and I were talking about which sauce /dressings we picked, Jennie heard us and got us samples of sauce for the road. We were telling her how it was my friends birthday and she told her happy birthday and took care of her meal. Jenny made sure we grabbed utensils and napkins for our drive. It was all around a great experience with great food. We even thanked the cook Jaymin cause he was talking to us before we left out. I had been coming here pretty often for a few months and was having great experiences and then sometime around May 2025, everything took a turn for the worse when it came to the service provided by the staff and the food portions. Many times, the soda machine was out of most of the drinks and the staff could not be bothered to do anything about it, and I can understand if there was a peak time rush, but there wasn't. The workers just acted bothered that they had to be AT WORK.
I avoided CAVA for a few months as a result. I went back today because I was getting a haircut in the area and I was beyond surprised, but in a good way. The manager Nelson and his team went above and beyond with the service and food prep for everyone in line and this was around 2:15 PM, so there was still quite a bit of people filtering in for the post-lunch rush.
I got a customized Greek chicken bowl with yellow rice, Romaine, Arugula, spinach, tzatziki, harissa, tomatoes, cucumbers, pickled red onions, Kalamata olives, feta cheese, and light Greek dressing and it was the best thing I've had here ever. The portions were generous and the staff was engaging and friendly.
Of course, I'm not expecting people to always be smiles and joy whenever I walk into an establishment, but it helps a customer experience whenever they feel welcomed and that's what happened today. I hope this continues. Keep up...
