We had a group of 6 meet here for a birthday party. The service and atmosphere were great, but the food wasn't anything that I'd go back for.
The reservation- they use OpenTable and it's an ok experience as it serves its purpose. The one thing about that is that the prices, and some of the descriptions, on the OpenTable menu don't reflect the actual menu. For example at the time of dining their Ribeye on OpenTable is listed as 16oz for $56, but in the restaurant it's a Bone-in Ribeye at 22oz for $85. It's a minor issue but it's something they should probably correct if they're going to use OpenTable for their reservations.
The appetizers- we started with a few including the bone marrow, blue crab & artichoke dip, tuna wonton tacos, truffle honey burrata, and parmesan & black pepper fries. I can't speak to the marrow since I'm not a fan, but honestly the best app out of those were the fries. That seemed to be the consensus in the group with the tuna tacos getting a solid second from those who had one of the three bite sized tacos.
The main course- among the group we ordered the tomahawk ribeye, the petit filet, and the bone-in ribeye. Everyone seemed satisfied with their order, however it didn't seem anyone was overly ecstatic about the steaks for the price point. Personally the bone-in ribeye was ok but not worth $85. It was cooked to medium as requested, however it didn't have much marbling and had even less flavor. It came with one piece of broccoli to add some color to the plate, but was not seasoned in any way. One of the others at the table ordered the bourbon peppercorn sauce, which was a complete disappointment. The bourbon dominated any other flavor in the sauce, so it might as well have been a shot of bourbon.
The sides- the tomahawk was on special that came with broccolini and the whipped yukon gold potatoes. We also ordered a twice baked potato, elote street corn, and manchego roasted asparagus to share among the table since the steaks are a la carte other than the tomahawk special. The asparagus somehow didn't get ordered so we didn't get to try it, the broccolini had no seasoning, the corn was unexpectedly so spicy that it overwhelmed the dish, which left the two potato dishes being the top contenders for sides. The corn probably came in second once you got used to the spice level.
The service- our server was excellent. He was knowledgeable about the menu, attentive, and friendly. I don't blame him for the asparagus as I don't know how it was missed. We ended up with the right amount of food without it anyway.
Overall it seems the prices reflect the location more than the quality of the food. The party of six had a 20% auto gratuity that I didn't see on the menu or anywhere else, but the server certainly earned it along with a bit extra. At $100/person I don't think I'd repeat this experience unless I really want a couple variations of good potatoes with a mediocre...
Read moreI really wanted to love brunch at Acre 41, especially since we were wrapping up a great stay at the AC Hot. Unfortunately, the experience didnât quite meet expectations.
We went for brunch on our last day and I ordered the Wagyu steak and eggs, which came with potatoes and toast, along with the blooming tea. The manager let us know the steak had been accidentally burnt and was being remadeâso we were prepared for a bit of a wait. But when it finally arrived, the steak had to be sent back. It was burnt on the outside, completely raw and cold on the inside. Even after the second attempt, the temperature still wasnât right, but we were too hungry to wait any longer and just ate what we could. We picked around the edible parts and left the rest.
To their credit, both the manager and our server were attentive and apologetic throughout, and they explained there had been a problem with the temperature probe for steaks that morning. Their communication was appreciated, but it didnât fully make up for the meal itself.
The eggs and toast were solid, no complaints there. But the potatoesâunfortunatelyâwere nearly inedible. They seemed to be smashed red potatoes that were either overcooked or burnt, far too tough and crunchy. Iâve had smashed potatoes before, and these just didnât work.
On a positive note, the blooming tea was lovelyâvisually and in flavor. The pot kept it hot the whole time, and it was a small bright spot in the meal. Our server also offered a complimentary dessert due to the steak issues, so I tried the bread pudding. Sadly, it fell flat too, though the ice cream it came with was good.
The restaurant is located on the Otis Hotel side (it shares space with the AC Hotel), and the setting is beautifulâvery polished and modern. Iâd absolutely stay at the hotel again. As for Acre 41, maybe Iâll try it for dinner next time and hope for a better experience. I really do want to give them another chance, but I hope this feedback is taken into considerationâit couldâve been a great meal with just a bit more care...
Read moreI went here on Saturday 8/3 to celebrate my birthday. Started at the bar while we waited for our seat. The bartender was completely annoyed either with her job or someone. Acted like I was a bother ordering drinks. We had 2 strawberry mules, and a Sage drink. They all 3 were terrible, especially for spending $50 on 3 drinks plus tip. Then we got our table which was nice, ordered the artichoke dip and wagyu meatballs, which were amazing best part of the meal. We were a party of 4 everyone ordered a steak and we also ordered a bottle of wine. The waitress Stacks ( sorry if that's spelling incorrect) was very good and personal. Our food made it out and everyone's food look amazing, except for mine. It looked like a charcoal briquettes, so I immediately knew it was over cooked. When our waitress came back to check on us I told her it was over cooked she took and told me they would have another one made. I sat and watched my friends enjoy there meal and after 20 min they were nearly finished. I walked back to the kitchen area and told our waitress to just cancel the order that my party was nearly finished and I wasn't about to sit there and have them watch me eat my meal. Politely told her that I didn't blame her in the least, however if you're going to charge $75 for a streak you get it right the first time. I went back to the table my friends felt really bad that I wasn't going to eat on my birthday. The waitress then came back over a few minutes later with my steak. Said she was sorry and would not be charging me for it. I went ahead and said thank you. I did eat some of the steak which was very good. However I felt rushed ad my friends were already finished with there meals and had there plates removed from the table. Manager never came by nothing, and I was also still charged for my steak. I personal experience I would not recommend this, especially spending over $400 dollars on...
