Abjectley the worst experience I have ever had with a business. I live 1 hour away from the location. I called prior visiting the store because I had broken the cover for my camera lense on my phone and needed the camera replaced. They said they could get right to it and have it done in a couple of hours. This is after visiting two other ubreakifix stores and paying a deposit for the parts they had to order. I go into the location and the tech stated it doesnt need a screen it needa a camera and i daid thats what i said on the phone. He said they had to order it and it would be in the following week and sorry for making me drive up there. The following week Wednesday and no call the manager had said they would have it that same week the next day on Friday. I had to call Wednesday to check if yhe parts had come in. No one seemed to have a clue where the parts were but said the system showed they arrived and they would call me back after they talked to the manager about where the parts were. No return phone call. Called them back. 30 minutes the phone said oh you have to talk to text but he went to lunch you'll have to wait. No call back. Called back again 30 minutes later. Tech said that the parts are there. Come on in and we can do it today. Told him I had to pick up my son by 3:45 and I lived an hour away, so it had to be done by 2:45. They said no problem usually takes an hour and a half. Was called and told that they could not get the camera to calibrate after replacing needed another hour. 2:30 rolls around still not done. Tell him I need to leave soon to go pick up my son. He says yeah maybe another 10 minutes walk around to the Starbucks get a coffee. 45 minutes later still not done, my son is waiting on the side of the road so i tell them I have to leave. Drive another hour back to go get my son and drive another hour and a half back to go get the phone which they said they cannot fix. Come back to pick up my phone that they have replaced Parts on that did not need to be replaced because they replaced the screen and they're making me pay for it or I can't have my phone back. I didn't need a screen I needed a camera I told him that from the very beginning they've done more damage to my phone then it had originally when I dropped it off as the new outer screen they put on now pops out. Had to pay the $150 to replace a screen that wasn't f@#%!!^# broken. Then they told me the parts can't be ordered as none of their suppliers have it, and I would have to wait for them to decide to order it again. Extremely lackadaisical people answering the phone that don't seem to care about schedule or time. Broke my phone more than it was when I dropped it off and made me pay for it! I get paid $3.50 a mile I have driven 350 MI for a total of 12 hours of driving and 10 trips. This is absolutely the worst business I have ever dealt with in my life hands down. I had to debate calling the police to get my phone back and decided against it because i didn't want a damn fight, just wanted my phone and go home! Now the outer screen on my phone is popping out it's not even installed correctly. I am not even remotely done...
Read moreI brought my 2023 MacBook Pro here after spilling some coffee over the left side of the keyboard. The computer worked fine, but a few of the keys were sticking down when pressed due to coffee residue. The tech told me they could do a cleaning for $50-$100 depending on the amount of work needed, which sounded great to me. When I picked up the computer everything seemed fine, but when I got home and started working the three keys that had been sticky seemed only partially attached to the device. The Caps Lock key popped right off.
I brought it back and the tech said the issue wasn't their fault. Their explanation was that the acidity of the coffee had dissolved the plastic mechanism that connected the keys to the keyboard. They offered to replace the entire keyboard for $350, but I opted to take the computer to another repair shop. The other repair shop was able to reattach the keys for $40 per key, but they said the Caps Lock key will have a weird feel because the uBreakiFix technician had bent the metal bar underneath the key.
I would not trust this place with any Apple products, and especially not with any MacBooks. They offered reasonable prices, but I don't think they know what they are doing when it comes to Apple products.
EDIT: I wish that was the end of my bad experience with UBreakiFix.
I got a Facebook message from Brandon McNew, who apparently owns UBreakiFix, asking me to call him. I thought he was contacting me to apologize or try to make things right. Instead, he implied that I was lying, and he accused be of being an operative for the competing repair shop (I have since removed their name from this review). He also told me that when a customer brings in a MacBook with a faulty key, UBreakiFix regularly recommends they replace the entire keyboard for $350 instead of replacing the single key for $40. Apparently they do this because MacBook keys are difficult to replace and so it’s “not worth their time.” I think he told me this to show his employees did not violate their operating procedure with me, but to me it sounds like they’re just ripping people off. Read moreI had the unfortunate experience of my HP laptop screen cracking and needed it repaired quickly, as I’m transitioning out of my current job. I originally sent it to Geek Squad, who kept it for over four weeks and ultimately returned it unrepaired.
Hoping for a better outcome, I called my local uBreakiFix (downtown ATX) in advance, provided the serial number, and was assured over the phone that they had the part in stock and could complete the repair. Based on that confirmation, I drove to the store—only to be told they did not have the part and couldn’t identify who I had spoken with. I even showed them my phone history to confirm the call, but was brushed off with, “That’s weird, maybe it was a corporate number.”
Still trying to be understanding, I asked for a repair quote, which they said they needed to get from the back. When they returned, they didn’t have a quote—or even know what the cost would be—but assured me I’d receive a call with the information before closing at 7 PM.
That call never came.
At 6:50 PM, I called them instead. They claimed they had initially thought the part was in stock when I called earlier, which was especially frustrating given that, in person, they said they had no idea what phone call I was referring to. It’s clear there’s a serious lack of communication and consistency among the staff.
When I asked when they’d receive it, they couldn’t say, only that they’d “know in 24-48 hours” and would call me with an update—which, based on my experience, I seriously doubt. I also paid a deposit over the phone to order the part, which means had I not followed up myself, nothing would have been ordered today!!
The entire reason I chose this shop was because I couldn’t afford another long delay like I had with Geek Squad. Unfortunately, this experience has been similarly disappointing. I was given incorrect information, promised follow-up that didn’t happen, and had to chase every step of the process myself. Timeliness and communication were critical—and both were completely lacking. This has been extremely frustrating before repair has...
