A few positives and a handful of negatives.
The positives: this ride is nice and cool. If you're ready for a break from the hot weather, this is the spot. My wife actually fell asleep on it! It's also very pretty. The ride starts off as a leisurely boat ride through the jungle. The animatronics are well made as well. So it has that cutesy charm of last generation's rides.
The negatives: the bulk of the ride is watching two Mexican birds chasing Donald Duck as he zooms around Mexico trying to kiss women. There are multiple scenes where he's oggling women or being physically held back from kissing them. The ambiance at the beginning of the ride is swiftly ruined by Donald's yelling. Lastly, all of the visuals are displayed on what looks like old TV screens and the video quality is very... Retro. The images are washed out and the footage is dated.
Overall, this location has a lot of potential for a relaxing break, but the ride itself needs an overhaul. Another reviewer suggested reskinning it as a Coco ride, and I think that's a...
Read moreIt's in the Mayan pyramid at the Mexico Pavillion. I almost skipped it thinking it was just a tourism movie. It's actually a boat ride that includes a cute performance by The Three Caballeros. there was basically no wait for this ride. I'm not sure why. Honestly, it was just great to get out of the midday sun for a while to cool off. The pyramid is an attraction all its own. I remember my husband commenting on the Mexican Mercado, and how it looks so authentic. The market sells touristy Mexican products like sombreros. The lighting inside is so cool because it makes you feel like you're visiting Mexico at twilight. Even the San Ángel Inn Restaurante terrace can be seen on the boat ride. It made me want to make reservations there.
The ride is an easy one. It's actually very relaxing, dark, and cool. The perfect time to visit is obviously at the hottest time of the day. That's what we did. It's cool & fun! My favorite part of the ride was the musical performance. It's just adorable to hear Donald Duck singing with José Carioca and...
Read moreThe Gran Fiesta Tour boat ride is It's a Small World meets The Three Caballeros. The ride is a hidden gem in the pyramid that represents Mexico in the World Showcase. It features Donald Duck and his co-stars from the film the Three Caballeros as they give you a tour of some of Mexico's most famous landmarks like Chapultepec Park and its famous gondolas all the way to Acapulco and its famous cliff divers.
The ride is colorful, filled with traditional music, and lively decore (like piñatas and traditional fireworks) that will fill children with awe; while adults can stretch and rest their weary feet after walking and waiting for hours for Frozen.
FYI: The dining area is modeled after The Pirates of the Caribbean Bayou themed restaurant @ Disneyland, California...except this one features Mexican cuisine.
So, enjoy the ride and sing along to the three Caballeros as they serenade you on the gran Mexican Fiesta. (Churros...
